The International Documentation of Electroacoustic Music (EMDoku) is an extensive online database, which contains detailed information on over 51000 works, 11000 authors as well as media (CD, DVD, tape, etc.), labels and studios. Electroacoustic music is understood as an umbrella term for tape music, acousmatic music, electronic music, musique concrète, field recordings, computer music, radio art, sound art, sound installations, live electronics etc., and includes performances and venues such as concert hall, radio, film, installation, media and internet. In addition to music and media science research, the documentation is intended to enable historically informed performance practice and interpretation research. It is considered as an "essential initiative" for the preservation of electroacoustic music. Jack Dangers (born John Stephen Corrigan, 11 January 1965) is an English electronic musician, DJ, producer, and remixer best known for his work as the primary member of Meat Beat Manifesto. He lives in San Francisco. Career Prior to founding Meat Beat Manifesto together in 1987, Jack Dangers and Jonny Stephens were members of a short-lived group Perennial Divide. While Stephens remained a member for several years, Jack Dangers is the only person credited as a member of the band on every Meat Beat Manifesto release. Acousmatic music (from Greek ἄκουσμα ''akousma'', "a thing heard") is a form of electroacoustic music that is specifically ''composed'' for presentation using speakers, as opposed to a live performance. It stems from a compositional tradition that dates back to the introduction of musique concrète (a form of musique expérimentale) in the late 1940s. Unlike musical works that are realised using sheet music exclusively, compositions that are purely acousmatic (in listening terms) often exist solely as fixed media audio recordings.
