International Cartoonists Exhibition
The International Cartoonists Exhibition is an annual art exhibition held in Rapallo, Liguria, Italy. Founded in 1972, it was one of the earliest Italian exhibitions devoted to comics. Conceived in order to popularize and increase the importance of work done by comic authors, it was the first exhibition of its kind to display original artwork. It is one of the few comics-related activities to have been founded and always directed by professional authors of the field, beginning with Carlo Chendi, an Italian cartoonist and ''Disney Italy'' screenwriter and the cartoonists Luciano Bottaro and Giorgio Rebuffi, who founded the ''Studio Bierreci''; other collaborators include the restaurateur Fausto Oneto, the designer Enrico Macchiavello (famous for ''Ceres'' beer commercials) and the official site's owner, Davide Caci. Art Exhibition
An art exhibition is traditionally the space in which art objects (in the most general sense) meet an audience. The exhibit is universally understood to be for some temporary period unless, as is rarely true, it is stated to be a "permanent exhibition". In American English, they may be called "exhibit", "exposition" (the French word) or "show". In UK English, they are always called "exhibitions" or "shows", and an individual item in the show is an "exhibit". Such expositions may present pictures, drawings, video, sound, installation, performance, interactive art, new media art or sculptures by individual artists, groups of artists or collections of a specific form of art. Dylan Dog
''Dylan Dog'' is an Italian horror comics series created by Tiziano Sclavi and published by Sergio Bonelli Editore since 1986. The series features the eponymous character, a paranormal investigator who takes on cases involving supernatural elements such as ghosts, demons, vampires, undeads, werewolves and other creatures, but also horrifying sociopathic criminals and serial killers. It defies the whole preceding horror tradition with a vein of surrealism and an anti-bourgeois rhetoric. Dylan is supported mainly by his trusty sidekick Groucho (a Groucho Marx lookalike) who adds humour to this grisly genre and Dylan's sombre temperament. The series is mainly set in London, where the protagonist lives, though he occasionally travels elsewhere. Julia (comics)
Julia-le avventure di una criminologa (Italian: ''Julia, adventures of a criminologist''), known simply as Julia, is an Italian comic book series created by Giancarlo Berardi and edited by Sergio Bonelli Editore. The protagonist, Julia Kendall, is a criminologist, and the stories are usually in the crime fiction genre. Creation The comic series was created in 1998 by Berardi (already author of Ken Parker) and it was born of Sergio Bonelli Editore's wish for a purely detective series, as well as by request of Ken Parker's fans, after its end, for a new comic. Berardi has attended criminology classes at Genoa's Istituto di Medicina Legale (''Institute of Legal Medicine'') to better prepare the new series. Ken Parker (comics)
Ken Parker is a fictional character from a series of eponym Italian comics created in 1974 by Giancarlo Berardi and Ivo Milazzo. He is a widely appreciated character in Italy and all over former Yugoslavia. First issue of the series, "Lungo fucile" ("long rifle") was published by the Italian publisher CEPIM. Ken Parker, however, had been created three years earlier on a magazine of the same publisher. The series ran for 59 numbers. New issues appeared in the following years, and are constantly under reprint in Italy. Ken Parker is a western anti-hero, graphically inspired by Robert Redford of '' Jeremiah Johnson''. Like Johnson, he is a trapper who had decided to escape from the first city to have appeared in the United States. ''Martin Mystère'' is both the title and protagonist of an Italian comics, Italian comic book. Created by writer Alfredo Castelli and artist Giancarlo Alessandrini, it was first published in Italy by Sergio Bonelli Editore in 1982. Dark Horse Comics has published the English version of the series in the United States. Satire
Satire is a genre of the visual, literary, and performing arts, usually in the form of fiction and less frequently non-fiction, in which vices, follies, abuses, and shortcomings are held up to ridicule, often with the intent of shaming or exposing the perceived flaws of individuals, corporations, government, or society itself into improvement.
