International (New Order Album)
''International'' is a greatest hits album by English rock band New Order, released on 29 October 2002 by London Records. Background It was released solely in certain countries—the United Kingdom notably excluded, although imports were available. Available editions include those from France with a limited-edition bonus CD and from the United States with a limited edition bonus DVD. As it came out in the same year as the 4/5 disc ''Retro'' compilation, many New Order fans did not purchase ''International'', particularly those fans in the countries in which it was never sold. One new track, the single "Here to Stay" from the ''24 Hour Party People'' soundtrack, was, however, included on ''International'', which was not on ''Retro'', providing a possible incentive to those fans waiting for ''Retro''. As of April 2006, the album had sold 62,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan Luminate (formerly Nielsen SoundScan, Nielsen Music Products, and MRC ...

New Order (band)
New Order are an English rock band formed in 1980 by vocalist and guitarist Bernard Sumner, bassist Peter Hook and drummer Stephen Morris. The members regrouped after the demise of their previous band Joy Division due to the suicide of lead singer Ian Curtis. They were joined by Gillian Gilbert on keyboards later that year. New Order's integration of post-punk with electronic and dance music made them one of the most acclaimed and influential bands of the 1980s. They were the flagship band for Manchester-based independent record label Factory Records and its nightclub The Haçienda, and they worked in long-term collaboration with graphic designer Peter Saville. While the band's early years were overshadowed by the legacy of Joy Division, their experience of the early 1980s New York club scene saw them increasingly incorporate dance rhythms and electronic instrumentation into their work. Their 1983 hit " Blue Monday" became the best-selling 12-inch single of all time and a ...

Fine Time
"Fine Time" is a song by English rock band New Order, released as the first single from their 1989 album, ''Technique''. The song was written and partially recorded in Ibiza; its title was inspired by an incident in which band member Stephen Morris's car was towed, and he had to remember to pay the fine. The single, released on 28 November 1988, received widespread praise during its release and retrospectively. It was also a commercial success, reaching 11 on the UK Singles Chart and peaking inside the top 10 in Finland, Ireland, and New Zealand, as well as on three US ''Billboard'' genre charts. Background According to lead vocalist Bernard Sumner, the band first wrote "Fine Time" after a night at the Amnesia nightclub in Ibiza. Originally, Sumner wanted to record the vocals with an erotic inflection comparable to that of Donna Summer's, but after recording the first take, he realised that the results were far from expectations and sounded as if he were "stuck on the toil ...

Temptation (New Order Song)
"Temptation" is a stand-alone single released by English band New Order on Factory Records in 1982. The single reached number 29 on the UK Singles Chart. Original release The 7" version is a more structured version with a commercial synthpop feel; the 12" is more chaotic with the emphasis on electronic rhythms rather than melody. The 7" version plays at 33⅓ rpm to accommodate its length of around five and a half minutes. Both versions bear the same catalogue number "FAC 63" despite these differences. The 12" versions of both "Temptation" and its B-side, "Hurt", appear on New Order's mopping-up EP '' 1981–1982'', released a few months after the single itself. Neither version mentioned the band's name on the sleeve; instead the song title and catalogue number FAC 63 were embossed into the cover. The vocal track on the original 12" version features an audible "startled yelp" during the song's intro. Vocalist Bernard Sumner has since explained that the scream was from hi ...

Here To Stay (New Order Song)
"Here to Stay" is a song by New Order and produced by The Chemical Brothers. It was released as a single in 2002, and reached number 15 in the UK Singles Chart. Release "Here to Stay" was the closing track from the movie ''24 Hour Party People'', and was the only new song composed specifically for the film. Its music video compiled scenes from the movie in black and white, and featured John Simm (who played Bernard Sumner in the movie) and comedian/actor Steve Coogan (who played Tony Wilson) reprising their roles. The video was dedicated to Rob Gretton, Martin Hannett and Ian Curtis; three people instrumental in the founding of the band who had since died. The track was released without major marketing, but still reached #15 in the UK chart. The track was made available both as a standalone single and on the band's compilation ''International''. It was also later included on the collection ''Singles'', and an extended instrumental version was released on the box set ''Ret ...
