Inter-District Championship
The Inter-District Championship (IDC) is the amateur Fijian football cup. Only five teams ( Suva, Rewa, Ba, Levuka and Lautoka) first took part in the first IDC held in Suva in 1938. From 1938 to 1975, the competition was initially held on a knock out format but in 1976 pool play was introduced. From 1985, the competition was held in two divisions with the introduction of a second level tournament known as the Premier Division. In 1999 there was a short lived third level division. With Navua registering its first ever win of the IDC tournament in 2009, all the current (as of January 2010) Super Premium Division teams have now won the Lloyd Farebrother Trophy one or more time(s). Nature of tournament The tournament is divided into two divisions. The Premier division (previously 10 teams) is currently made up of 8 district teams. Suva
Suva () is the capital and largest city of Fiji. It is the home of the country's largest metropolitan area and serves as its major port. The city is located on the southeast coast of the island of Viti Levu, in Rewa Province, Central Division. In 1877, the capital of Fiji was moved to Suva from Levuka, the main European colonial settlement at the time, due to its restrictive geography and environs. Prince Charles Park
Prince Charles Park is a stadium in Nadi, Fiji. The stadium has a nominal capacity of 18,000 people. It currently hosts rugby union matches, football (soccer) matches, and special events. The venue hosted the final of the football Oceania Club Championship in 1999. The park is home to the Nadi Rugby Union and Nadi Football Association. Govind Park has also hosted many international matches with teams from all continents. It has also hosted local football tournaments like the Fiji Fact, Battle of the Giants, and Inter District Championship. The ground is managed by the Nadi Town Council. Plans are underway to expand the nominal capacity to 30,000, making it the largest stadium in the Fiji Islands. ANZ National Stadium
The HFC Bank Stadium ( formally known as ANZ Stadium) is a multi-purpose stadium in Suva, Fiji. HFC Stadium is used primarily for rugby league, rugby union and football matches, and features a track as well as a pitch suitable for worldwide competition. It has undercover seating for 4,000 spectators, and concrete and grass embankments that increase the capacity to 15,000 people. Construction and renovations Originally called Buckhurst Park, the stadium was constructed in 1951 on sixteen hectares of land given by William H. B. Buckhurst in 1948. Vatukoula (; meaning "gold rock" in Fijian) is a gold mining settlement in Fiji, 9 km inland from the Town of Tavua on the island of Viti Levu. Colonial history Vatukoula may be viewed historically as the cradle of the modern gold mining industry in Fiji. The discovery of gold in the Tavua district is attributed to Baron de Este, who found it in the Nasivi River in 1872. Some 20 years later, New Zealand prospector Fielding, began a systematic search along the Nasivi river. However, discovery of gold in commercial quantities in 1932 at Vatukoula, is attributed to Scottish prospector Bill Borthwick. Taveuni (pronounced ) is the third-largest island in Fiji, after Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, with a total land area of . The cigar-shaped island, a massive shield volcano which rises from the floor of the Pacific Ocean, is situated to the east of Vanua Levu, across the Somosomo Strait. Tailevu is one of the 14 provinces of Fiji. Savusavu () is a town in the Fijian Province of Cakaudrove. The town is located on the south coast of Vanua Levu Island and had a population of 3,372 in the 2007 census. Savusavu is known as "the hidden paradise of Fiji." Geography Savusavu is located on Fiji's northern island of Vanua Levu. It can be reached by plane from Nadi (one hour) or by ferry from Suva or Lautoka (approx 12-hour trip).
