Inspector (band)
The band Inspector (from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon) fuses classic Jamaican rhythms with the feel of Mexican pop. Their style is a blend of ska, reggae, nostalgia for the 1960s rock-n-roll and the great romantic groups of the 1970s, in addition to a romantic style of their own. They are part of the musical movement called the Avanzada Regia. History Inspector was born in November 1995 with a group of kids who were looking for fun, to create good music and enjoy themselves. After achieving their initial goals as a band, they recorded an independent album called ''Blanco y Negro'' (1993) that made them known in the music scene of their hometown of Monterrey and other cities such as Guadalajara, San Luis Potosí, Leon, Querétaro and Mexico City. During this time the group's lineup began to take shape. Nuevo León () is a state in the northeast region of Mexico. The Lo Nuestro Award for Rock/Alternative Album of the Year was an honor presented annually by American network Univision. The Lo Nuestro Awards have been held annually since 1989. The accolade was established to recognize the most talented performers of Latin music. The nominees and winners were originally selected by a voting poll conducted among program directors of Spanish-language radio stations in the United States and also based on chart performance on ''Billboard'' Latin music charts, with the results being tabulated and certified by the accounting firm Arthur Andersen. Ely Guerra (born Elizabeth Guerra Vázquez, February 13, 1972) is a Mexican singer-songwriter who was raised in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. The daughter of Alberto Guerra and Gloria Vázquez, Guerra lived the first years of her life in Monterrey, where she was born, before moving to San Luis Potosí and then to Guadalajara, due to her father's work. It was in Guadalajara that she first discovered her passion for music. She has a mezzo-soprano voice. Life and career Guerra wrote her first song at age ten. She attended school at the Evergreen State College in Washington. In 1986, Guerra was the backing vocalist of the band Carmín.
