Insomniac Press is a Canadian independent book publisher. Founded in 1992 and based in London, Ontario, Insomniac began as a publisher of poetry chapbooks. The company has since evolved into a publisher of a wide variety of fiction, poetry and non-fiction work by emerging Canadian writers. Authors published by Insomniac have included Natalee Caple, Jon Paul Fiorentino, Jean Rae Baxter, Lynn Crosbie, Stephen Finucan, Sky Gilbert, Lynnette D'anna, Howard Hampton, R. M. Vaughan, Jane Rule, Anne Stone, Anthony Bidulka and A. F. Moritz. The company has also published a number of books by musicians, including Matthew Good, Jann Arden, Terri Clark, Lillian Allen, Damhnait Doyle, Michelle Wright and Ra McGuire. London, Ontario
London (pronounced ) is a city in southwestern Ontario, Canada, along the Quebec City–Windsor Corridor. The city had a population of 422,324 according to the 2021 Canadian census. Jann Arden (born Jann Arden Anne Richards; March 27, 1962) is a Canadian singer-songwriter and actress. She is famous for her signature ballads, "Could I Be Your Girl" and "Insensitive (song), Insensitive", which is her biggest hit to date. Emily Schultz
Emily Schultz (born 1974) is an American fiction writer raised in Canada and now living in Brooklyn, New York. Life and career During an onstage interview with Margaret Atwood, Schultz described how her own family settled in Canada from Michigan in the early 1970s when her father deserted the U.S. Army at the height of the Vietnam War. Schultz's father had used a guide for draft evaders and deserters issued by one of her future publishers, House of Anansi. She is the author of ''Black Coffee Night'', a Danuta Gleed nominated 2002 collection of stories. Stephen Cain (poet)
Stephen Cain (born 1970) is a Canadian poet and academic. In his five books of poetry Cain demonstrates an interest in various poetic forms including sound poetry and concrete poetry, as well as constraint-based writing and procedural poetics. Avant-garde movements, such as Language Poetry and Oulipo, appear to be influences on his writing and his work is marked by frequent use of alliteration, pun, and disjunction. In content, his poetry often mixes pop culture with literary theory and political concerns. He has been involved with various editorial activities including being a literary editor at the journal ''Queen Street Quarterly'', and a fiction editor at Insomniac Press. Paul Vermeersch
Paul Joseph Vermeerschis a Canadian poet. His first collection, ''Burn'' (2000), was a finalist for the Gerald Lampert Award. His subsequent collections, ''The Fat Kid'' (2002), ''Between the Walls'' (2005), ''The Reinvention of the Human Hand'' (2010, a finalist for the Trillium Book Award), and ''Don't Let It End Like This Tell Them I Said Something'' have all garnered critical praise. Ramon Wayne "Ra" McGuire (born June 13, 1950) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and founding and longtime member of the rock band Trooper. Ra (pronounced "Ray") has performed with Trooper and Brian Smith from 1975, when their first album was released, to the present day. As a songwriter, McGuire has been nominated four times for the 'Composer of the Year' Juno Award. Damhnait Doyle (; born December 9, 1975) is a Canadian musician, singer and composer. A phonetic spelling of her first name (which is Irish) also serves as the title of her 2003 album. She was a member of Atlantic Canadian band Shaye from 2003–2009 with Kim Stockwood and Tara MacLean (2003–2007). Along with Blake Manning, Stuart Cameron and Peter Fusco, she formed a new band called The Heartbroken which was active since 2009. Lillian Allen (born 5 April 1951) is a Canadian dub poet, reggae musician, writer and Juno Award winner. Terri Lynn Sauson, known professionally as Terri Clark, born August 5, 1968, is a Canadian country music singer who has had success in both Canada and the United States. Signed to Mercury Records in 1995, she released her self-titled debut that year.
