Inryō-ji
Inryō-ji ( ja, 蔭凉寺) is a Buddhist temple in Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture, Japan. It is also known as Inryo-ji, Inryou-ji, or Inryoji. It is a temple of the Myōshin-ji school of the Rinzai sect in Japanese Zen. The temple was founded in 1632 during the Edo period by Ikeda Tadakatsu (the former feudal lord of Okayama who ruled Bizen Province and four districts of Bitchū Province and undertook maintenance of Okayama Castle and expansion of the castle town). History Although the temple has been rebuilt over the centuries, the latest reconstruction occurred in 1998. The temple was completely burnt down in an air raid on Okayama in the early morning of June 29, 1945, but the stone pagoda and water bowl, though burnt and chipped, still remain, showing the intensity of World War II. Simon Nabatov
Simon Nabatov (born 11 January 1959) is a Russian-American jazz pianist. Early life Nabatov was born in Moscow on 11 January 1959. His parents were Leon, a professional pianist and choir conductor who was a native of Belarus, and Regina. Nabatov began playing the piano at the age of three and his first composition was at six. He attended a Duke Ellington concert in Moscow in 1971 and his determination to become a jazz musician was reinforced a year later at a Thad Jones–Mel Lewis Orchestra performance. By the age of 17 he was playing bebop with other musicians in Moscow. His formal education in music was at the Central School of Music and then the Moscow Conservatory. Nabatov and his parents were permitted to leave the Soviet Union in 1979. Akira Sakata (born 21 February 1945) is a Japanese free jazz saxophonist. Early life Sakata was born in Hiroshima on 21 February 1945. He first heard jazz on short-wave radio and Voice of America, then became more interested in it from listening to film soundtracks. Reginald Reuben Washington (born July 28, 1962 in New York City) is an American jazz bassist. He is the brother of drummer Kenny Washington. Reggie and his brother Kenny played percussion instruments as The Washington Brothers from age seven. Soon after, Reggie took up cello and then both electric and double-bass. He began playing professionally as a bassist in the early 1980s, with Chico Hamilton for much of that decade, as well as with Ronald Shannon Jackson, Carlos Ward, Jean-Paul Bourelly, and Clyde Criner. Laraaji (born Edward Larry Gordon, 3 May 1943) is an American multi-instrumentalist specializing in piano, zither and mbira. His albums include the 1980 release '' Ambient 3: Day of Radiance'', produced by Brian Eno as part of his ''Ambient'' series. Early life and career Born Edward Larry Gordon in Philadelphia, he studied violin, piano, trombone and voice in his early years in New Jersey. Peter Broderick (born January 20, 1987) is an American musician and composer from Carlton, Oregon. He has released solo material under his own name, been a member of Efterklang, and played with several ensembles as a session musician. Biography Broderick was born in Searsmont, Maine in 1987 but raised mostly in Carlton, Oregon. He learned a number of musical instruments whilst at school, and went on to become a session musician, playing violin, banjo, musical saw, and mandolin on recordings by M. Ward, Zooey Deschanel, Dolorean and others. He played and toured with numerous groups, including Horse Feathers, Norfolk & Western, Loch Lomond and Laura Gibson. is a Japanese folk singer and songwriter who was born in Urayasu, Chiba and raised in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. She releases music on her own label, hermine. Her main instrument is guitar, which most of her music is mainly composed of, but she also plays the piano, clarinet, accordion, and flute on her own. Aoba is known for her acoustic sound and songwriting, which is inspired by her dreams. Nicki Parrott (pronounced pa-ROTT) is a jazz vocalist and bass player from Australia. Background Parrott took piano lessons when she was four years old, then learned flute. When she was fifteen, she started playing double bass, and after graduating from high school she studied at the New South Wales Conservatorium of Music in Sydney, Australia. While in school, she performed with Australian musicians Dale Barlow and Mike Nock and with American musicians Chuck Findley and Bobby Shew. Kirinji (band)
is a Japanese band from Sakado, Saitama, originally formed by brothers Takaki and Yasuyuki Horigome in October 1996. The two are also pursuing their own solo efforts. In April 2013, Yasuyuki left the band to focus on his solo career. In the summer of that year, Takaki took over and continued the band with the addition of five new members under the name "KIRINJI". On January 31, 2020, Kirinji announced the end of its current band activities. The last live "KIRINJI LIVE 2020" of the four-piece band was held on December 9–10, 2020, ending its eight year activity. Kirinji announced its new format will be applied after they finished the tours promoting ''Cherish''.
