Ingrow
Ingrow is a suburb of Keighley, West Yorkshire, England that lies on the River Worth. The name Ingrow comes from Old Scandinavian which means 'corner of land in the meadow.' The suburb is located on the A629 road and is south west of Keighley town centre. The Ingrow Railway Centre has two railway museums: the Museum of Rail Travel owned by Vintage Carriages Trust, and Ingrow Loco, owned by the Bahamas Locomotive Society. The museums (off South Street A629) are adjacent to Ingrow (West) railway station, Ingrow Station on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, a long heritage railway that serves Keighley, Ingrow, Damems, Oakworth, Haworth and Oxenhope. Between 1884 and 1955 Ingrow had a second railway station (Ingrow (East) railway station, Ingrow East), adjacent to, but higher than the current railway station. Ingrow (West) Railway Station
Ingrow (West) railway station is a single-platform station serving the suburb of Ingrow in Keighley, West Yorkshire, England. It is served by the preserved Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. The station is west of station and west of railway station. History Although work began in 1864, the Worth Valley was delayed in opening until 1867 due to some issues, not least a Methodist chapel at Ingrow, which stood right underneath where the tunnel immediately south of the station would go. This involved spending over £150,000 in resiting the chapel. The station opened in April 1867, along with the rest of the line, but was closed in January 1962 to passengers and in June 1962 to goods. After the station's closure, the existing station building was vandalised and later demolished, so, when re-opened in 1968, it was used as an unstaffed request stop. Hainworth
Hainworth is a hamlet south of Keighley in West Yorkshire, England. The hamlet faces north across the lower end of the Worth Valley with a steep wooded incline towards Keighley. Museum Of Rail Travel
The Museum of Rail Travel at Ingrow, England is operated by the Vintage Carriages Trust (VCT), a charity based just north of Ingrow (West) railway station on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway in West Yorkshire. Founded in 1965, it became a registered charity in 1981 and opened in 1990. The Trust has provided railway carriages for over 70 films and television programmes. Two of the steam locomotives owned by VCT - "Sir Berkeley" and "Bellerophon" have visited railways in the Netherlands. "Bellerophon" has also visited Belgium. "Sir Berkeley" is on loan to the Middleton Railway, Leeds. A third locomotive, Lord Mayor, an 0-4-0 saddle tank steam locomotive is on static display in the museum. A629 Road
The A629 road is an inter-Yorkshire road that runs from Skipton to Rotherham through Keighley, Halifax, Huddersfield and Chapeltown in Yorkshire, England. The road runs through North, West and South Yorkshire, but before 1974, the entire length of the road was wholly within the boundaries of the West Riding of Yorkshire. It is designated as a primary route through most of its length. The road is part of the intended Doncaster to Kendal Trunk Route which was designated as a trunk road in 1946. Parts of the road are designated as a High Load Route by the UK Government although the section through Burncross to Chapeltown is designated as B road (B6546) because of a weight restriction. Bradford Exchange Railway Station
Bradford Exchange railway station served the city of Bradford, West Riding of Yorkshire, England, from 1850 to 1973, before being replaced by a smaller, new-build station, which was later called Bradford Interchange. Railway lines from Halifax, Queensbury, Wakefield and Leeds met south of the city centre with services terminating in the station.
