Inglis River
The Inglis River is a river in North West Tasmania, Australia, it extends approximately from the Campbell Ranges near Takone before discharging into Bass Strait at Wynyard. The Flowerdale River is the largest tributary system on the Inglis River and makes up approximately one-third of the Inglis-Flowerdale catchment basin. Inglis-Flowerdale catchment area While not tributaries of the main river system, Sisters Creek and Seabrook Creek are notable minor creeks which form part of the Inglis-Flowerdale catchment area. Annual rainfall ranges from about at the coast to greater than in the upper reaches of the catchment, some inland from Wynyard. A gravel pit is an open-pit mine for the extraction of gravel. Gravel pits often lie in river valleys where the water table is high, so they may naturally fill with water to form ponds or lakes. Old, abandoned gravel pits are normally used either as nature reserves, or as amenity areas for water sports, landfills and walking. In Germany former gravel or sand pits that have filled up with water are known as ''Baggersee'' ("power dug lake") and popular for recreational use. Flowerdale, Tasmania
Flowerdale is a locality and small rural community of Waratah-Wynyard, in north-west Tasmania. Significant geographic features include the Inglis River and the confluence of its largest tributary, the Flowerdale River. The 2011 census determined a population of 324 for the state suburb of Flowerdale, which includes Flowerdale and the nearby Table Cape locality. Australian Grayling
The Australian grayling (''Prototroctes maraena'') is a primarily freshwater fish found in coastal rivers in south-eastern mainland Australia and Tasmania. In past decades it has also been known as the cucumber mullet or cucumber herring, for its cucumber-like odour. Description and diet The Australian grayling is a streamlined fish with a long and slender body and small conical head. Colouration is usually silver on the flanks and dusky olive on the back, overlain with a gold sheen. Tasmanian Giant Freshwater Crayfish
The Tasmanian giant freshwater crayfish (''Astacopsis gouldi''), also called Tasmanian giant freshwater lobster, is the largest freshwater invertebrate and the largest freshwater crayfish species in the world. Table Cape
Table Cape is a extinct volcano located near Wynyard, Tasmania, Wynyard on the North West Tasmania, North West of Tasmania, Australia, it is also the name of the locality which encompasses the geological feature. Table Cape is a more or less circular extinct volcano with a flat top, its northern and eastern faces rise steeply from Bass Strait to a height of approximately above sea level.
