Ingleton Liburd
Ingleton Liburd (born 27 April 1961, in Trinidad) is a former Canadian cricket player. He was a top-order batsman who made his name playing for St Kitts and Leeward Islands Under-19s, but his career in the Caribbean ended when he moved to Canada where he established himself in the national side, playing in three ICC Trophies as well as the 1998 Commonwealth Games where he captained them. He served as president of the St. Kitts Cricket Association and as a territorial development officer for the West Indies Cricket Board before joining Cricket Canada as its cricket development officer in 2008. In 2009 he was the surprise choice as interim chief executive after the surprise removal of Atul Ahuja. He made his début for Canada in a match against Barbados in 1987. The 1998 Commonwealth Games ''(Malay: Sukan Komanwel 1998)'', officially known as the XVI Commonwealth Games ''(Malay: Sukan Komanwel ke-16)'', was a multi-sport event held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). This was the only time cricket was played at a Commonwealth Games until a women's tournament was included in the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Seam bowling is a bowling technique in cricket whereby the ball is deliberately bowled on to its seam, to cause a random deviation when the ball bounces. Practitioners are known as ''seam bowlers'' or seamers. Seam bowling is generally classed as a subtype of fast bowling, although the bowling speeds at which seam can be a factor include medium-pace bowling. The Barbados national cricket team is the national cricket team of Barbados, organised by the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA).
