The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is a database of name and locative information about more than two million physical and cultural features throughout the United States and its territories, Antarctica, and the associated states of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau. The Chicago and North Western was a Class I railroad in the Midwestern United States. It was also known as the "North Western". Stephenson, Michigan
Stephenson is a city in Menominee County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 862 at the 2010 census. The city is surrounded by Stephenson Township but is administered autonomously. It is part of the Marinette, WI–MI Micropolitan Statistical Area. History This Menominee River settlement had a Chicago and Northwestern Railroad station setup in 1872. On July 13, 1874, a post office was opened here under the name of Wacedah with Alva F. Burnham as its postmaster. The post office was renamed after local leader Samuel Stephenson on January 10, 1876.
