Indooroopilly Shire
The Shire of Moggill is a former local government area of Queensland, Australia, located in western Brisbane. History Toowong Division was one of the original divisions created on 11 November 1879 under the ''Divisional Boards Act of 1879''. On 20 May 1880, the more populated area of Toowong Division was proclaimed as the Shire of Toowong, with the remaining part of the Toowong Division being renamed Indooroopilly Division on 2 June 1880. In 1890, residents in the Taringa area of the Indooroopilly Division began to agitate for the establishment of a separate division for Taringa. Their rationale was that the area around Taringa railway station had grown in population and was of a suburban character and that the interests of this community were different from those of the farming community that comprised the rest of Indooroopilly Division. Indooroopilly is a riverside suburb 7km west of the Brisbane CBD, Queensland, Australia. In the , Indooroopilly had a population of 12,242 people. Geography Indooroopilly is bounded to the south and south-east by the median of the Brisbane River. Indooroopilly is connected to Chelmer on the southern bank of the river by four bridges, consisting (from east to west) of a pedestrian/cycling bridge (Jack Pesch Bridge), two rail bridges ( Albert Bridge and Indooroopilly Railway Bridge), and one road bridge (Walter Taylor Bridge, ). The suburb is designated as a regional activity centre. Indooroopilly has significant commercial, office and retail sectors and is home to Indooroopilly Shopping Centre, the largest shopping centre in Brisbane's western suburbs. Toowong is a riverside suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Toowong had a population of 10,830 people. Geography Toowong is situated between Mount Coot-tha and the Brisbane River and is made up of rolling hills with little flat land. Since European settlement most of the land has been cleared for residential and commercial use with the exception of some park land and bushland near the Western Freeway. At the centre of Toowong is a commercial precinct including Toowong Village, and several other commercial and office buildings. The western side of the suburb is predominantly residential with a mix of medium density dwellings and detached Queenslander houses, extending to the foothills of Mount Coot-tha. Taringa is a suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Taringa had a population of 8,376 people. Geography Taringa is by road south-west of the Brisbane GPO. The suburb of Taringa borders Brisbane's Mt Coot-Tha, Indooroopilly and St Lucia, and is dominated by a ridge that runs the length of Swann Road, with steep slopes on either side of the ridge. Taringa is mostly residential, except for a small number of commercial buildings mostly clustered along Moggill Road.
