Indonesian Football League System
The Indonesian football league system is a series of league system for association football clubs in Indonesia. Since 1994, Liga Indonesia is the league competition featuring association football clubs, as a result of two existing top-flight football leagues merger: Perserikatan (amateur) and Galatama (semi professional). Liga Indonesia is managed by PSSI, the Indonesian national football federation. There are three levels of competition in the hierarchy recently. The top two in the hierarchy are professional competitions, whereas the rest are amateur. Structure Liga 1 is the first-tier of football league in Indonesia. Until 2017, it was known as ''Indonesian Super League.'' The second-tier is Liga 2, formerly ''Premier Division''. Liga 1 and 2 are professional leagues and governed by PT. Liga Indonesia Baru. Indonesian Premier League (IPL; Indonesian: ''Liga Prima Indonesia'') was the highest level competition for football clubs in Indonesia from 2011 to 2013. This competition was managed by ''PT Liga Prima Indonesia Sportindo'', under supervision of the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI). Persikab Bandung
Persikab Kabupaten Bandung or simply Persikab is an Indonesian football team based in Bandung Regency, West Java. They compete in the Liga 2. Their nickname is ''Dalem Bandung Warriors''. Persatuan Sepakbola Indonesia Bandung ( 'Indonesian Football Association of Bandung'), commonly referred to as Persib Bandung, or simply Persib, is a professional football club based in Bandung, West Java, which competes in Liga 1, the top tier of Indonesian football. The Indonesian Inter Island Cup (IIC; id, Piala Antar Pulau) was a national level football tournament held in Indonesia and organized by PSSI as a pre-season tournament during the Indonesia Super League season break. The tournament involved best clubs representing 5 large islands in Indonesia: Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Papua. Indonesian Community Shield
The Indonesian Community Shield was a pre-season football competition held the week before the season begins in Indonesia every year. It was contested by the winners of the Indonesia Super League/Indonesian Premier League and Piala Indonesia in the previous season, as a curtain raiser to the new season. If the same team wins both Indonesian League and Piala Indonesia, then the Community Shield is contested by the League winners and the Piala Indonesia runners-up. The current holders are Semen Padang, who defeated Persibo Bojonegoro 4–1 in the 2013 edition. 2021 Menpora Cup
The 2021 Menpora Cup ( id, Piala Menpora 2021) was a pre-season tournament held by the PSSI ahead of the 2021 Liga 1. The tournament started on 21 March and finished with a two-legged final on 22 and 25 April 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all matches were played behind closed doors. The 2021 edition was the second edition of Menpora Cup, with the first edition being held in 2013 which was won by Arema who defeated Australian side Central Coast Mariners by 2–1 in the final. Persija won the finals 4–1 on aggregate against Persib for the title. Teams PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) decided that only 18 teams that participated in the 2020 Liga 1 could join this tournament. Indonesia President's Cup
The Piala Presiden (English: President's Cup) is an annual pre-season association football tournament held in Indonesia and organized by the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI). It is participated by Liga 1 clubs. The inaugural tournament was held in 2015 to fill the vacuum of the Indonesia Super League when Indonesia was suspended by FIFA for government interference. The most recent tournament was held in 2022. History The Piala Presiden was a substitute tournament for the Indonesia Super League after PSSI was declared FIFA sanctioned in May 2015. Piala Indonesia
Piala Indonesia ( 'Indonesia Cup') is the professional annual cup competition for football clubs in Indonesia. Originally, it started from the semi-professional football era in 1985 as Piala Liga, which ran until 1989 under Galatama competition. The Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) organized the full professional cup competition from 2005 until now. Traditionally, the tournament involves all the clubs from the whole layers in football competitions in Indonesia, which are Liga 1, Liga 2, and Liga 3. The competition was founded in 2005. Piala Indonesia winners qualify for the AFC Cup the following season. Sriwijaya is the most successful club in the competition with three titles. AFC Champions League
The AFC Champions League (abbreviated as ACL) is an annual continental club football competition organised by the Asian Football Confederation, and contested by Asia's top-division football clubs. It is the most prestigious club competition in Asian football, played by the national league champions (and, for some nations, one or more runners-up) of their national associations. Liga Nusantara
Liga 3 (English: ''League Three'') is the lowest tier in Indonesian football league system. Formed as Liga Nusantara in 2014, this league occupies the third tier and consists of 2 rounds: ''provincial qualification''—held in every provinces in Indonesia, and ''national round'', competed by provincial qualifiers (number varies between provinces). History The competition was established after Liga Indonesia Second Division and Liga Indonesia Third Division merged in 2014. Indonesian Third Division
Liga Indonesia Third Division (Indonesian: ''Divisi Tiga Liga Indonesia'') is the lowest level (5th) of nationwide football competition in Indonesia. Along with first and second division, this league is managed by the Amateur League Board of the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI). This is the final league in Indonesia and there is no relegation, that a team can go all the way and become champion. This competition involves players under the age of twenty years, as part of the ''youth player development program''.
