Indonesia At The Paralympics
Indonesia made its Paralympic Games debut at the 1976 Summer Paralympics in Toronto, with competitors in athletics, lawn bowls, swimming and table tennis. The country has participated in every subsequent edition of the Summer Paralympics, except 1992, but has never taken part in the Winter Paralympics. As of 2020 edition, Indonesians have won a total of twenty-seven Paralympic medals: six gold, seven silver and fourteen bronze. The country's first two gold medals were won in 1976, by Itria Dini in the men's precision javelin (category F), and by Syarifuddin in the men's singles in lawn bowls (category E). Yan Soebiyanto won Indonesia's third gold medal in that same event four years later, while R.S. Arlen took gold in weightlifting, in the men's featherweight amputee category. National Paralympic Committee Of Indonesia
National Paralympic Committee of Indonesia is the body responsible for selecting athletes to represent Indonesia at the Paralympic Games and other international athletic meets and for managing the Indonesian teams at the events. It was created on 31 October 1962 as the Disabled Sports Founder Foundation ( id, Yayasan Pembina Olahraga Cacat; abbreviated YPOC) before changing the name during its 7th National Sports Conference on 31 October and 1 November 1993 to Disabled Sports Founder Agency ( id, Badan Pembina Olahraga Cacat; abbreviated BPOC). This name was changed to its current on 26 July 2010. Since 1992, NPC Indonesia be a part of the National Sports Committee of Indonesia until split off as independent organization in 2015. All-time Paralympic Games Medal Table
An all-time medal table for all Paralympic Games from 1960 to 2020. The International Paralympic Committee does not publish all-time tables, and publishes unofficial tables only per single Games. This table was thus compiled by adding up single entries from the IPC database. This medal table also includes the medals won on the 1992 Summer Paralympics for Intellectualy Disabled, held in Madrid, which also organized by the International Coordination Committee (ICC) and same Organizing Committee (COOB'92) that made the gestion of the 1992 Summer Paralympics held in Barcelona and also part of same event. But the results are not on the International Paralympic Committee 's (IPC) database. The results are attributed to the IPC country code as currently displayed by the IPC database. 1988 Summer Paralympics
The 1988 Summer Paralympics () were the first Paralympics in 24 years to take place in the same city as the Olympic Games. They took place in Seoul, South Korea. This was the first time the term "Paralympic" was used officially. The 1984 International Games for the Disabled, canonically the 1984 Summer Paralympics were the seventh Paralympic Games to be held. The 1980 Summer Paralympics ( nl, Paralympische Zomerspelen 1980), branded as the Olympics for the Disabled, were the sixth Summer Paralympic Games. They were held in Arnhem, Netherlands, from 21 to 30 June 1980. Background The Soviet Union, hosts of the 1980 Summer Olympics, were invited to host these Paralympics. However, disability sport was not there, and they passed; notoriously, a statement was issued denying the existence of any disabled people in the country. Soviet Paralympic teams were first represented in the 1988 Summer and Winter Games, also the last while the Soviet Union was extant. The first Paralympics on former Soviet territory would be in 2014. The 1972 Summer Paralympics (german: Paralympische Sommerspiele 1972), the fourth edition of the Paralympic Games, were held in Heidelberg, West Germany, from 2 to 11 August 1972.
