Indonesia Arena
The Indonesia Arena is a multipurpose indoor arena at the Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex in Jakarta, Indonesia. Completed in June 2023, it has a maximum seating capacity of 16,500 and served as one of the venues of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. History Construction Indonesia was appointed as co-hosts along with the Philippines and Japan for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. However, Indonesia needed a suitable venue with a seating capacity of at least 8,000 to meet FIBA standards. Existing venues include the Istora Gelora Bung Karno, Istora Senayan within the Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex with up to 7,200 people and The BritAma Arena which can sit only 5,000 people. The government decided to construct a new indoor arena for the World Cup instead. The BritAma Arena ( Indonesian: ''Arena BritAma''), also known as Kelapa Gading Sports Mall or Mahaka Square, is an indoor sporting arena located in the affluent Kelapa Gading subdistrict in North Jakarta, Indonesia. The arena plays host to the basketball games of Indonesia's most successful club basketball team Satria Muda BritAma in the Indonesian Basketball League and ASEAN Basketball League (ABL), and also serves as the venue of some sporting and trade events in the North Jakarta area. The Indonesian Basketball League (IBL; id, Liga Bola Basket Indonesia) is the preeminent men's professional basketball league in Indonesia, founded by Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi) in 2003. Developmental Basketball League (DBL), previously named DetEksi Basketball League, is a basketball league for middle and high school students in Indonesia. History DBL began in Surabaya in 2004. The league originated by ''Jawa Pos'' newspaper as a simple high school league. The ''DetEksi'' term of its original name came from a former teenager section of the paper. A total of 96 teams joined in the first season, from cities throughout East Java. In 2007 more than 55,000 spectators watched games. This was a four-fold increase on 2004's figures, and a total of 220 teams competed. East Java DBL subsequently divided into two regions: North in Surabaya; and South in Malang. The Indonesia men's national basketball team represents the Republic of Indonesia in international basketball competitions. The governing body of the team is the ''Persatuan Bola Basket Seluruh Indonesia'' (Indonesian Basketball Association – ''PERBASI''). Its biggest success was the gold medal at the 1996 South East Asian Championship. Team Indonesia is one of the major teams in Southeast Asia.
