State Road 165 is a route in Gibson and Posey counties in the U.S. State of Indiana. Route description State Road 165 starts at State Road 66 near Wadesville then goes north through Poseyville where it intersects Interstate 64 at Exit 12. It is also concurrent with State Road 68 for about a mile in Poseyville. It then continues north before going east, ending at its parent route, State Road 65, at the Owensville town square. Wadesville, Indiana
Wadesville is an unincorporated community in northern Center Township, Posey County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. It lies along State Road 66 northeast of the city of Mt. Vernon, the county seat of Posey County. Its elevation is 479 feet (146 m). Although Wadesville is unincorporated, it has a post office, with the ZIP code of 47638. History Wadesville was laid out in 1852. The community was named for the Wade family of settlers. A post office has been in operation at Wadesville since 1855. Wadesville High School Wadesville had a local high school, the "Wadesville Red Devils." In 1958 Wadesville consolidated with Poseyville, Cynthiana, and Griffin to form North Posey High School. Owensville, Indiana
Owensville is the third largest town and the smallest of the five larger communities in Gibson County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,330 in 2017. History Owensville was established in 1817 by Phillip Briscoe, when he filed the town plat consisting of 52 parcels and five out-parcels. A fire in 1876 destroyed many of the wood framed businesses on the eastern side of the town square. It was not until 1881 that Owensville incorporated. On March 18, 1925, the Tri-State Tornado struck just northwest of the town, killing nine people. On February 28, 2017, an EF3 wedge tornado, originating in Crossville, Illinois, passed to the south of the town, destroying or heavily damaging several structures along Indiana 65. Gibson County is a county in the southwestern part of the U.S. state of Indiana. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 33,503. The county seat is Princeton. Poseyville is a town in Robb Township, Posey County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 1,045 at the 2010 census. History The town of Poseyville was originally called Palestine when the town was first surveyed and laid out by James Smith on February 28, 1840. The town was set up along the New Harmony-Princeton coach line. The new town was recorded at the Posey County Recorder's Office on November 20, 1840. Palestine was renamed Poseyville when the town got its first post office on February 10, 1843 due to another town named Palestine, Indiana who already had a post office.
