New Castle Correctional Facility
New Castle Correctional Facility is a privately run (but state-owned) prison located in New Castle, Indiana, United States. It opened in 2002. In September 2005, the state signed a contract with the for-profit GEO Group, Inc. of Boca Raton, Florida, to run the prison. The facility is rated as minimum- to medium-security, but also has a maximum-security psychiatric unit and annex. It is currently the second-largest prison in Indiana, and can hold approximately 3,270 inmates. Logansport is a city in and the county seat of Cass County, Indiana, United States. The population was 18,366 at the 2020 census. Logansport is located in northern Indiana at the junction of the Wabash and Eel rivers, northwest of Kokomo. Wabash Valley Correctional Facility is a prison situated south of Terre Haute, located in Haddon Township, Sullivan County, just north of Carlisle, Indiana. The Wabash Valley Correctional Facility received American Correctional Association (ACA) re-accreditation at the 145th Congress of Corrections August 2015 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Special Needs Unit (SNU) The SNU is a mental health treatment unit designed to house Seriously Mentally Ill offenders who have been designated as needing intensive mental health treatment and programming within the Indiana Department of Correction. Offender participants may be transferred into the unit from any other facility in the state. When participants arrive, they are assessed and placed in the program's phase system. Rockville Correctional Facility is a state prison located in Adams Township, Parke County, one mile (1.6 km) northwest of Rockville, Indiana. A part of the Indiana Department of Corrections, it is the largest state prison for women in Indiana with approximately 1,200 women. Greencastle is a city in Greencastle Township, Putnam County, Indiana, United States, and the county seat of Putnam County. It was founded in 1821 by Ephraim Dukes on a land grant.
