Indian Super Cup (1997–2011)
The Indian Super Cup was Indian football's annual match contested between the champions of the previous National Football League or I-League season and the holders of the Federation Cup, usually held at a neutral venue. If the League champions also won the Federation Cup then the league runners-up would provide the opposition. The fixture was usually considered the curtain raiser to the Indian football domestic season. The fixture was last contested in 2011 when East Bengal won the cup for the third time, defeating Salgaocar 9–8 on penalties. History The Indian Super Cup was started in 1997 by the All India Football Federation as a playoff between the then National Football League champions and Federation Cup holders. I-League
The I-League (known as Hero I-League for sponsorship ties with Hero MotoCorp) is the second-tier men's professional football competition of the Indian football league system. It is currently contested by 12 clubs across the country with the winners getting promotion to play in the premier division, the Indian Super League. The competition was founded in 2007 as the successor to the National Football League, with the first season starting in November 2007. The league was launched as India's first ever top-tier professional football league with the aim to increase the player pool for the India national team. I-League operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the I-League 2 and at first only promotion system with the Indian Super League, from the 2022–23 season. Sporting Clube De Goa
Sporting Clube de Goa, simply known as Sporting Goa (also known by its abbreviation SCG), is an Indian professional football club based in Panaji, in the Indian state of Goa, that competes in Goa Professional League. The club has also competed in the I-League, then top flight of Indian football league system. It is built on the lines of Portuguese club Sporting CP and adopting a similar club crest. Its Futsal section competes in the Futsal Club Championship, top tier futsal club competition of the country. The Cooperage Football Ground is a football stadium located in Nariman Point, Mumbai, India. It is currently home to multiple Mumbai Football League clubs. The Western India Football Association has operated from the Cooperage Ground since 1969, and the Mumbai District Football Association holds a small office. The 2006 Indian Super Cup was the 6th Indian Super Cup, an annual football match contested by the winners of the previous season's National Football League and Federation Cup competitions. However, since Mahindra United won both the 2005–06 National Football League and the 2005 Indian Federation Cup, the match was between Mahindra United and East Bengal (runner's up of the 2005–06 National Football League), with East Bengal winning 2–1 to clinch their second Super Cup title. The match was played at Cooperage Ground, Mumbai, on 27 May 2006. EMS Stadium
The EMS Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Kozhikode, Kerala, India. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium is currently home of I-League side Gokulam Kerala FC, together with Indian Women's League side Gokulam Kerala FC (women). It could hold more than 50,000 spectators and was built in 1977.
