Indian Sports Honours
Indian Sports Honours are awards given annually by the RPSG Group in association with the Virat Kohli Foundation to outstanding sports personalities from India. The awards were founded in 2017. 2017 Awards The inaugural 2017 award ceremony was held on 11 November 2017 in Mumbai. The jury was chaired by former all-England champion and chief national badminton coach Pullela Gopichand, and comprises multiple Grand Slam winner Mahesh Bhupathi, sprinter P. T. Usha, former world number one shooter Anjali Bhagwat and former India hockey captain Arjun Halappa. Dipa Karmakar
Dipa Karmakar (born 9 August 1993) is an Indian Gymnast from Tripura State. She is the first gymnast of India who competed in the Olympics. In her debut 2016 Summer Olympics, in the final she reached till 4th position. At the Rio Olympics, she lost an Olympic medal by just 0.15 points; due to her historic achievement at Rio Olympic, she became a well known Gymnast as well as a face of gymnastics in India. In the final she performed a difficult Prodonova vault and completed against worlds' top Gymnasts such as Simone Biles of United States, Maria Paseka and Giulia Steingrubber, who won Gold, Silver and Bronze medal respectively. Karmakar first gained attention when she won a bronze medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, becoming the first Indian female gymnast to do so in the history of the Games. Anil Kumble (; born 17 October 1970) is a former Indian cricket captain, coach and commentator who played Test and One Day International cricket for his national team over an international career of 18 years. Widely regarded as one of the best leg spin bowlers in Test cricket history, he took 619 wickets in Test cricket and is the fourth highest wicket taker of all time as of 2022. In 1999 while playing against Pakistan, Kumble dismissed all ten batsmen in a Test match innings, joining England's Jim Laker as the second player to achieve the feat. Vidit Santosh Gujrathi (born 24 October 1994) is an Indian chess grandmaster. He attained the title of grandmaster in January 2013, becoming the 30th player from India to do so. he is the second highest rated player in India (behind Viswanathan Anand. Sameer Verma (born 22 October 1994) is an Indian badminton player. He trains at the Gopichand Badminton Academy, Hyderabad. Sameer is the brother of Indian badminton player Sourabh Verma. Career 2011 Verma won a silver medal in the Asian Junior Championships, held in Lucknow, India and a bronze medal in mixed team event. Kedar Mahadev Jadhav (born 26 March 1985) is an Indian cricketer who plays for Maharashtra and has also played for the Indian national cricket team. Ramanathan Ramkumar (born 8 November 1994) is an Indian professional tennis player. He has been ranked as high as No. 111 in singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), which he achieved in July 2018, and in doubles at No. 58 achieved in August 2022.
