Indian Kabaddi Team (men's Division)
The Indian National Kabaddi Team represents India in international men's kabaddi competitions. The team is by far the most successful national kabaddi side of any country, winning gold medals at the Asian Games in 1990 (the first year the sport was contested), 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, and 2014, as well as winning all three Kabaddi World Cup events to date. Maninder Singh (kabaddi) is the current captain of the team (declared so in 2022) after Deepak Niwas Hooda (former captain) was suffering from bad form in PKL 9. History 1990s Kabaddi was contested at the Asian Games as a competitive (non-exhibition) sport for the first time in 1990. Maninder Singh (kabaddi)
Maninder Singh is an Indian professional Kabaddi player who plays for the India national kabaddi Team.He is the captain and lead raider of Bengal Warriors In the Pro Kabaddi League.Maninder is regarded as one of the best raiders in the league. He led Bengal Warriors to their maiden PKL trophy in 2019. Early life Maninder Singh was born in the Hoshiarpur district of Punjab, India. He completed graduation from Khalsa College, Amritsar and currently lives in Jalandhar. He is employed to Punjab Police. 2016 Kabaddi World Cup
The 2016 Kabaddi World Cup was the third edition of the standard-style Kabaddi World Cup. It was organised by the International Kabaddi Federation and contested from 7 to 22 October 2016 in Ahmedabad, India. Twelve countries competed in the tournament. India won their 3rd World Cup by defeating Iran 38–29 in the final. Statistics Participating countries Twelve teams competed in the tournament. Pakistan was originally scheduled to participate in the tournament, but was removed due to increased tensions between India and Pakistan. Kabaddi was contested at the 2002 Asian Games in Busan, South Korea from October 4 to October 7. The competition took place at the Tongmyong University.
