India National Youth Orchestra
The India National Youth Orchestra is the national youth orchestra of India. The group's aim is to help young musicians to develop their talents and expose them to an orchestral setting. Approximately 150 musicians play in the orchestra. They perform a wide variety of music, notably ones from their home country of India. History The orchestra was formed by Vijay Upadhyaya. He believed that there was a limitation in solo repertoire and gave a lesson to the orchestra such that children of all ages and classes could collaborate effectively. He enlisted children who played Western instruments, making up most of the orchestra. In January 2011, Upadhyaya held auditions followed by a ten-day workshop in Kolkata to train candidates. A concert was held on 26 April 2011 at Kala Mandir. Youth Orchestra
A youth orchestra is an orchestra made of Youth, young musicians, typically ranging from pre-teens or teenagers to those of Music school, conservatory age. Depending on the age range and selectiveness, they may serve different purposes. Orchestras for young students have the primary purpose of music education, often led by a Conducting, conductor who is also a music teacher. Some youth orchestras have been set up by professional symphony orchestra, symphony orchestras, both as a training ground for future players, and as part of their community outreach program. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky , group=n ( ; 7 May 1840 – 6 November 1893) was a Russian composer of the Romantic period. Simple Symphony (Britten)
The ''Simple Symphony'', Op. 4, is a work for string orchestra or string quartet by Benjamin Britten. It was written between December 1933 and February 1934 in Lowestoft, using material that the composer had written as a young teenager, between 1923 and 1926. It received its first performance in 1934 at Stuart Hall in Norwich, with Britten conducting an amateur orchestra. The piece is dedicated to Audrey Alston (Mrs Lincolne Sutton), Britten's viola teacher during his childhood. The piece is based on eight themes which Britten wrote during his childhood (two per movement) and for which he had a particular fondness. He completed his final draft of this piece at age twenty. Edward Benjamin Britten, Baron Britten (22 November 1913 – 4 December 1976, aged 63) was an English composer, conductor, and pianist.
