Deportivo Independiente Medellín, also known as Independiente Medellín or DIM, is a Colombian professional football club based in Medellín that currently plays in the Categoría Primera A. They play their home games at Estadio Atanasio Girardot, which seats 40,943 people, and is also shared with city rivals Atlético Nacional. The team is dubbed "El Poderoso de la Montaña" (Mighty of the Mountain) due to Medellín's geographical location high in the Andes mountains. Founded in 1913, Independiente Medellín has won the Categoría Primera A six times: in 1955, 1957, 2002–II, 2004–I, 2009–II, and 2016–I, and the Copa Colombia three times: in 1981, 2019, and 2020. Atanasio Girardot Sports Complex (officially ''Unidad Deportiva Atanasio Girardot'') is a sports complex located in Medellín, Colombia. The complex includes Estadio Atanasio Girardot, Medellín Sports Coliseum, Luis Alberto Villegas Stadium, and Alfonso Galvis Duque Stadium. Atanasio Girardot Stadium Estadio Atanasio Girardot (Atanasio Girardot Stadium) is currently used mostly for football matches by two teams, Atlético Nacional and Independiente Medellín, two of the most successful and popular football clubs from Colombia. 2019 Copa Colombia
The 2019 Copa Colombia, officially the 2019 Copa Águila for sponsorship reasons, was the 17th edition of the Copa Colombia, the national cup competition for clubs of DIMAYOR. The tournament was contested by 36 teams, beginning on 13 February and ending on 6 November, with Independiente Medellín winning their second title by defeating Deportivo Cali in the finals by a 4–3 aggregate score and qualifying for the 2020 Copa Libertadores. Atlético Nacional were the defending champions, but were knocked out of the competition by Deportes Tolima in the quarterfinals. The 1967 Copa Libertadores de América was the eighth edition of the Copa Libertadores, and which involved 20 club teams from South American nations. José Vicente Grecco
José Vicente Grecco (20 June 1929 in Bahía Blanca – 24 August 2008 in Medellín) was an Argentine football player and manager. Club career Grecco began his playing career in 1948 with Boca Juniors, he only played one game for the club a 3–1 defeat to Estudiantes de La Plata on 14 November 1948. He then went on to play for Unión de Santa Fe and Newell's Old Boys in the Primera División Argentina. Grecco scored 55 goals in 107 matches for Unión. He also enjoyed success in Colombia with Independiente Medellín and Santa Fe. Felipe Marino (born 1978) is an American independent film producer best known for his work on ''All the Boys Love Mandy Lane'' (2006) and ''The Wackness'' (2008) with Keith Calder and Joe Neurauter. The fifteenth edition of the South American Championship was held in Lima, Peru from 15 January to 12 February. Overview The participating countries were Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay.
