Chris Brandt
Chris Brandt (born February 4, 1970) is an American filmmaker and cartoonist, director of the documentary " ''Independents''". Biography Brandt was born in Silver Spring, Maryland, the son of a U.S. diplomat, and spent his youth in several countries. He studied at the University of Maryland and UC Santa Cruz. In 1993, after graduating college, he pursued cartooning on his own, eventually becoming associated with the comic book co-op Puppy Toss in Berkeley, California, and creating the ''Artfly'' mini-comics series with fellow cartoonist Jesse Reklaw. He turned his attentions to film making and video in 2000, creating the celebrated '' Dance, Voldo, Dance'' in 2003, the award-winning short film ''Closing Time'' in 2005, and the critically acclaimed feature documentary ''Independents'' in 2007. Comic Book
A comic book, also called comicbook, comic magazine or (in the United Kingdom and Ireland) simply comic, is a publication that consists of comics art in the form of sequential juxtaposed panels that represent individual scenes. Panels are often accompanied by descriptive prose and written narrative, usually, dialogue contained in word balloons emblematic of the comics art form. Robert L. Williams, often styled Robt. Williams (born March 2, 1943), is an American painter, cartoonist, and founder of '' Juxtapoz Art & Culture Magazine''. Williams was one of the group of artists who produced ''Zap Comix'', along with other underground cartoonists, such as Robert Crumb, S. Clay Wilson, and Gilbert Shelton. Eric Powell (March 3, 1975) is an American comic book writer/artist, best known as the creator of ''The Goon''. Wendy Pini ''née'' Fletcher, (born June 4, 1951) and Richard Pini (born July 19, 1950) are the husband-and-wife team responsible for creating the well-known '' Elfquest'' series of comics, graphic novels and prose works. They are also known as WaRP (as in Warp Graphics). Early life Wendy Fletcher was born in San Francisco in 1951, and from an early age demonstrated the talents later to come to fruition as a professional illustrator, and eventually as the creator of ''Elfquest''.
