Independent Socialist Party (1944)
The Independent Socialist Party (1944) (Spanish: ''Partido Socialista Independiente'', PSI) was founded in 1944 by Enrique Baldivieso, José Tamayo, Fernando Campero Álvarez and Augusto Guzmán, former leaders of the United Socialist Party. With the coup d'état of 1943 and the coming to power of Major Gualberto Villarroel López, the United Socialist Party split, with a dissident group forming the Independent Socialist Party, which for some time cooperated with the Villarroel regime and with Congressional majority bloc. Augusto Guzmán
Augusto Guzmán (1903–1994) was a Bolivian writer and historian. He was a soldier during the Chaco War (1932–1935). He wrote three novels, ''La sima fecunda'' (1933), ''Prisionero de Guerra'' (1937) and ''Bellacos y paladines'' (1964). The first two novels are considered among the best novels in Bolivian literature The constant political turmoil that Bolivia has experienced throughout its history has slowed the development of Bolivian literature. Gualberto Villarroel
Gualberto Villarroel López (15 December 1908 – 21 July 1946) was a Bolivian military officer who served as the 39th president of Bolivia from 1943 to 1946. A reformist, sometimes compared with Argentina's Juan Perón, he is nonetheless remembered for his alleged fascist sympathies and his violent demise on 21 July 1946. Early life Gualberto Villarroel was born on 15 December 1908 in Villa Rivero, Cochabamba Department. He was the son of Enrique Casto Villarroel and María López. The Genuine Republican Party ( es, Partido Republicano Genuino, PRG) was founded in Bolivia in 1921 by José María Escalier and Daniel Domingo Salamanca Urey following a split in the Republican Party. Genuine Republican Party was formed by a conservative sector. The Republican Government of Bautista Saavedra enacted progressive social and labor codes and doubled government taxes on mining. The Republican Socialist Unity Party (Spanish: ''Partido de la Unión Republicana Socialista'', PURS) was a political party founded on 10 November 1946 in Bolivia as the fusion of the Republican Socialist Party, the Genuine Republican Party, the United Socialist Party, and the Independent Socialist Party.
