Incitement (film)
''Incitement'' ( he, ימים נוראים, lit=Terrible Days) is a 2019 Israeli thriller film directed by Yaron Zilberman. It was screened in the Contemporary World Cinema section at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival. The film was written by Ron Leshem alongside Zilberman, and Yair Hizmi. At the film's world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, the screening was halted and the audience had to evacuate because of a security threat. The screening resumed when the cinema showing the film was determined to be safe. It received the 2019 Ophir Award for Best Picture and was selected as the Israeli entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards. Yaron Zilberman
Yaron Zilberman ( he, ירון זילברמן; born October 2, 1966) is an Israeli-American director, screenwriter and producer. Career Zilberman directed, co-wrote and produced ''A Late Quartet'' which starred Philip Seymour Hoffman, Christopher Walken, Catherine Keener, Mark Ivanir and Imogen Poots. The film premiered in the Special Presentation program at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival. Inspired by and structured around String Quartet No. 14 (Beethoven), Beethoven's Opus 131, the film follows the world-renowned Fugue String Quartet after its cellist Peter Mitchell (Christopher Walken) is diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. Cinematographer Frederick Elmes lensed the film and composer Angelo Badalamenti composed the score for the film. Israel has submitted films for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film since 1964. Despite its relatively small film-making industry, ten Israeli films have been nominated for the Foreign Language Oscar, placing it in the Top Ten most nominated countries of all time. However, as of 2022, no Israeli film has ever won the coveted award. Since 1991, the Israeli Ophir Award winner for Best Film is automatically designated the Israeli submission for the Oscar. This is a list of submissions to the 92nd Academy Awards for the Best International Feature Film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has invited the film industries of various countries to submit their best film for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film every year since the award was created in 1956. The award is presented annually by the Academy to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. The International Feature Film Award Committee oversees the process and reviews all the submitted films. The category was previously called the Best Foreign Language Film, but this was changed in April 2019 to Best International Feature Film, after the Academy deemed the word "Foreign" to be outdated. Yigal Amir ( he, יגאל עמיר; born May 31, 1970) is an Israeli right-wing extremist who assassinated former Prime Minister of Israel, Yitzhak Rabin. At the time of the assassination he was a law student at Bar-Ilan University. The assassination took place on November 4, 1995, at the conclusion of a rally in Tel Aviv, Israel. Amir is serving a life sentence for murder plus six years for injuring Rabin's bodyguard, Yoram Rubin, under aggravating circumstances.
