Incentive Records
Incentive Records is an independent dance based company with records, publishing and producer management interests. It was launched in 1999 with investment from Ministry of Sound and a private investor, and run by XL Recordings/ Positiva founder Nick Halkes. Dance Music
Dance music is music composed specifically to facilitate or accompany dancing. It can be either a whole musical piece or part of a larger musical arrangement. In terms of performance, the major categories are live dance music and recorded dance music. While there exist attestations of the combination of dance and music in ancient times (for example Ancient Greek vases sometimes show dancers accompanied by musicians), the earliest Western dance music that we can still reproduce with a degree of certainty are old fashioned dances. In the Baroque period, the major dance styles were noble court dances (see Baroque dance). In the classical music era, the minuet was frequently used as a third movement, although in this context it would not accompany any dancing. The waltz also arose later in the classical era. BM Dubs
BM Dubs (born Andrew Kirby) is an English garage DJ and producer. Biography He is best known for his 2001 hit version of "Whoomp! (There It Is)" which reached No. 32 on the UK Singles Chart and No. 4 on the UK Dance Singles Chart. It is based on the 2000 release "Whoops.... We'll Be in Trouble!" by Mr. Rumble who is credited on BM Dubs' version which also features Brasstooth and Kee and samples the Timo Maas remix of Azzido Da Bass's " Dooms Night". In July 2000, his white label release "Too Shady", which samples Eminem's "The Real Slim Shady" peaked at No. 49 on the UK Independent Singles Chart. Tru Faith & Dub Conspiracy
Tru Faith & Dub Conspiracy was a collaboration between two UK garage groups, Tru Faith (consisting of members George D, Maxim Elmalki & Nial Montgomery), and Dub Conspiracy (Andrew Hunter & Ian McKenzie). They are best known for their sole UK chart hit single, a cover of the Adina Howard song "Freak like Me", with British singer Imaani on vocals. Their version reached No. 12 on the UK Singles Chart in September 2000, and spent 5 weeks on the chart, as well as reaching number one on the UK Dance Singles Chart. Tru Faith & Dub Conspiracy initially released a remix of Adina Howard's "Freak like Me" titled "Freek Me" on About 2 Records, backed with a remix of Beenie Man and Chevelle Franklyn's "Dancehall Queen". Chocolate Puma are a DJ and music production duo from Haarlem, North Holland, consisting of René ter Horst ("DJ Zki") and Gaston Steenkist ("Dobre"). Their stage names include "Zki & Dobre", "The Good Men", and "The Goodmen". Zki & Dobre have produced dance music under various group names since the early 1990s. Distant Soundz
Distant Soundz is one of the pseudonyms of British electronic dance musician, Mark Shrimpton. Shrimpton has released various singles on vinyl and CD under the name. Notable singles In early 2002, Distant Soundz recorded and released a garage cover of Cyndi Lauper's 1984 ballad, " Time After Time" with singer Robbie Beaumont, who made an appearance on ''Never Mind the Buzzcocks'' in the 'Identity Parade' round promoting the re-release of the single. The track received considerable airplay in the UK, and a video was made. Shrimpton performed the hit live on various TV appearances including Channel 4, BBC Wales, and on BBC One's ''Top of the Pops''. "Whoomp! (There It Is)" is the debut single by 1990s rap duo Tag Team, written by members Cecil "DC the Brain Supreme" Glenn and Steve "Rolln" Gibson.
