In The Grid
''In the Grid'' was a British game show that aired on Five from 30 October 2006 to 2 February 2007, hosted by Les Dennis. Format Round 1 - The Grid The reigning champion gets to pick from a 3x3 board (from A1 to C3), each square hiding a name. The selected square reveals the name of the champion's new opponent. If there is no reigning champion (only the case where the previous champion has won five games and has to "retire"), the selection is made randomly by the Grid. The first person selected is treated as the "reigning champion", and the second person selected is treated as the "new contestant" for the purposes of game play: this is elaborated on later in this section. The main game board has sixteen squares in a 4x4 layout (from A1 to D4). Behind each square is a different colour, and neither player (nor the host or audience) knows the location of which colours are where. Les Dennis
Leslie Dennis Heseltine (born 12 October 1953) is an English television presenter, actor, and comedian. He presented ''Family Fortunes'' from 1987 until 2002. Early life Dennis was born Leslie Dennis Heseltine on 12 October 1953 in the Liverpool suburb of Garston. His mother worked in a factory while his father, who worked in a betting shop after serving in the Royal Navy during the Second World War, was listed as a football player on the books of Liverpool FC but did not play for the first team. He lived in the suburb of Speke for a while and attended the Stockton Wood and Joseph Williams primary schools, before going to Morrison Rose Lane Secondary Modern school in Allerton. From 1967 he went to Quarry Bank Comprehensive. Dennis left there in June 1972 with an A-level in Art and failed History and English Literature. Channel 5 is a British free-to-air public broadcast television channel launched in 1997. A game show is a genre of broadcast viewing entertainment (radio, television, internet, stage or other) where contestants compete for a reward. These programs can either be participatory or Let's Play, demonstrative and are typically directed by a game show host, host, sharing the rules of the program as well as commentating and narrating where necessary. ''Deal or No Deal'' is a British game show, hosted by Noel Edmonds, which aired from 31 October 2005 to 23 December 2016 on Channel 4. Based on the original Netherlands format of the game show, each episode sees a contestant choosing one of 22 boxes, each containing a cash amount between 1p to £250,000, and then attempting to win as much as possible either by gambling on having a high amount in their chosen box, or making the game's hidden operator, named "the Banker", offer a considerable cash sum for their box regardless of what is inside. The amount a contestant wins is determined by pure luck – cash amounts are randomly allocated to each of the boxes before each game, with contestants required to open a specific number of boxes per round of the game to eliminate the cash amounts their chosen box does not contain, in turn affecting how much is offered by the Banker. itbox is a networked gambling games terminal which is found in thousands of pubs, leisure centres and video game arcade, amusement arcades in the United Kingdom.
