''In a Year of 13 Moons'' (german: In einem Jahr mit 13 Monden) is a 1978 West German drama film directed by Rainer Werner Fassbinder and starring Volker Spengler. The film was made in response to the suicide of Fassbinder's lover at the time, Armin Meier (actor), Armin Meier. In a "Top 10" list of his own films, Fassbinder placed ''In a Year of 13 Moons'' second, after ''Beware of a Holy Whore''. Rainer Werner Fassbinder
Rainer Werner Fassbinder (; 31 May 1945 – 10 June 1982), sometimes credited as R. W. Fassbinder, was a German filmmaker. He is widely regarded as one of the major figures and catalysts of the New German Cinema movement. Fassbinder's main theme was the exploitability of feelings. His films were deeply rooted in post-war German culture: the aftermath of Nazism, the German economic miracle, and the terror of the Red Army Faction. Other prominent themes in his films include love, friendship, identity and more generally, the throes of interpersonal relationships. His first feature-length film was a gangster movie called '' Love Is Colder Than Death'' (1969); he scored his first domestic commercial success with ''The Merchant of Four Seasons'' (1972) and his first international success with '' Ali: Fear Eats the Soul'' (1974), both of which are considered masterpieces by contemporary critics. Walter Bockmayer (4 July 1948 – 7 October 2014) was a German film director, screenwriter and actor. He directed seven films between 1975 and 1988. His 1978 film '' Flaming Hearts'' was entered into the 28th Berlin International Film Festival. He died of lung cancer in 2014.
