''In Towers and Clouds'' is the first and only album released by the Dublin quartet The Immediate. The album received generally positive reviews on its launch and was nominatedbr>for the 2007 Choice Music Prize. Shortly after the album's launch, Jim Carroll, a journalist with the Irish Times, wrote an article in the newspaper's weekly entertainment supplement praising the band for choosing to release the album independently. He described the album as containing ''"cracking songs"'' and one ''"which gets bigger, better, bolder and brighter with every listen"''. The Immediate
The Immediate were an avant-garde Irish rock quartet, based in Malahide. They made a considerable impact on the Irish music scene despite releasing only one album during the span of their association together. The album was '' In Towers and Clouds'' (2006). It received primarily positive critical feedback and was nominated for the Choice Music Prize for Irish Album of the Year 2006. Alongside their sole album, several extended plays and singles were also released by the band. They split suddenly in May 2007, citing "existential differences". The final line-up of the band consisted of David Hedderman (vocals, guitar, bass), Conor O'Brien (vocals, guitar, drums), Peter Toomey (vocals, drums, bass) and Barra Heavey (keys, guitar, bass, drums, backing vocals). Meteor Music Awards
A Meteor Ireland Music Award was an accolade bestowed upon professionals in the music industry in Ireland and further afield. They had been bestowed each year since 2001, replacing the IRMA Ireland Music Awards held in the 1990s. Promoted by MCD Productions, the ceremony at which these accolades were bestowed upon worthy recipients was referred to colloquially as The Meteors, though occasionally also by its full title. Humanzi were an Irish rock band based in Dublin, Ireland. Album and singles Humanzi released their debut album ''Tremors'' on Fiction/SFR on 24 July 2006. It featured the singles "Fix The Cracks" and "Diet Pills and Magazines". ''Tremors'' was produced by Chris Vrenna (Nine Inch Nails) and Garreth Mannix. Jim Carroll
James Dennis Carroll (August 1, 1949 – September 11, 2009) was an American author, poet, autobiographer, and punk musician. Carroll was best known for his 1978 autobiographical work '' The Basketball Diaries'', which inspired a 1995 film of the same title that starred Leonardo DiCaprio as Carroll, and his 1980 song "People Who Died" with the Jim Carroll Band. Early life Carroll was born to a working-class family of Irish descent, and grew up in New York City's Lower East Side. When he was about 11 (in the sixth grade) his family moved north to Inwood in Upper Manhattan. He was taught by the LaSalle Christian Brothers. In fall 1963, he entered Rice High School in Harlem, but was soon awarded a scholarship to the elite Trinity School. He attended Trinity from 1964 to 1968. The Choice Music Prize (), known for sponsorship reasons as the RTÉ Choice Music Prize is an annual music prize awarded to the best album from a band or solo musician who is born in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland or holds an Irish passport. For bands, the majority of members must have been born in the island of Ireland or hold an Irish passport. Since it first began in 2005, the main awards ceremony had been broadcast live on the Irish independent and national radio station, Today FM, every March with the exception of the 2014 ceremony which took place on 27 February 2014 and it is also held in Vicar Street, Dublin with the exception of the 2012 ceremony which was held in the Olympia Theatre (Dublin).
