Ghetto Twiinz
The Ghetto Twiinz is an American hip hop duo from New Orleans, Louisiana, composed of twin sisters Tonya and Tremethia Jupiter. From 1995 to 2001, the women released four albums, all of which made it to the ''Billboard Charts''. Biography Twin sisters Tonya and Tremethia Jupiter who were born in New Orleans in Louisiana, formed the Ghetto Twiinz in 1991 and were signed to independent record label, Big Boy Records, in 1994. After their debut album '' Surrounded By Criminals'' was released in 1996, they would join Rap-a-Lot Records and Noo Trybe Records. They would release three more albums '' In That Water'' (1997), '' No Pain No Gain'' (1998) and '' Got It on My Mind'' (2001) before disappearing from the music scene until releasing an EP ''Them People Coming'' in 2011. Gangsta Rap
Gangsta rap or gangster rap, initially called reality rap, emerged in the mid- to late 1980s as a controversial hip-hop subgenre whose lyrics assert the culture and values typical of American street gangs and street hustlers. Many gangsta rappers flaunt associations with real street gangs, like the Crips and Bloods. Southern hip hop, also known as Southern rap, South Coast hip hop, or dirty south, is a blanket term for a regional genre of American hip hop music that emerged in the Southern United States, especially in Atlanta, New Orleans, Houston, Memphis, and Miami—five cities which constitute the "Southern Network" in rap music. Rap-A-Lot is a hip hop record label co-founded by James Prince and Cliff Blodget in 1986. Smoke-a-Lot Records is a subsidiary. Rap-A-Lot was first distributed by A&M Records with the release of Raheem's 1988 debut ''The Vigilante''. The label was distributed through the 1990s by EMI's Priority Records (1991–1994), Noo Trybe Records (1994-1998), and Virgin Records (1998–2002). In the 2000s, it was distributed by Asylum Records and then Fontana Distribution. On August 22, 2013, Rap-A-Lot announced a distribution deal with RED Distribution. Noo Trybe Records
Noo Trybe Records was an American hip hop record label established in 1994 by Eric L. Brooks and operated as a sublabel of Virgin Records. It worked with several independent hip hop labels including Rap-A-Lot Records and AWOL. History A portion of Noo Trybe's roster came from several artists who were absorbed from EMI when it was disbanded, which included Gang Starr and AZ. Other Virgin acts such as Shyheim, who signed with the label in 1993, were transferred to the new label. One of the label's biggest successes was the group Luniz. On July 4, 1995, Noo Trybe released Luniz's debut studio album, ''Operation Stackola''. The album peaked in the top 20 on the ''Billboard top 200'', and ultimately achieved Platinum status in America. Rap-A-Lot's distribution was absorbed by Virgin proper in 1998, and in 1999, the label was absorbed by its parent. Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums is a music chart published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine that ranks R&B and hip hop albums based on sales in the United States and is compiled by Nielsen SoundScan. The chart debuted as Hot R&B LPs in the issue dated January 30, 1965 in an effort by the magazine to further expand into the field of rhythm and blues music.
