''In Symphony'' is a 2001 live concert album by Norwegian singer Sissel Kyrkjebø. It was recorded during her concerts held in Drammen Theater, Norway in September 2001. Sissel performed her most popular songs and some new songs in a new arrangement with a symphony orchestra. Paddy Moloney, Espen Lind, Kalle Moraeus and Sort Sol guested and performed duets with Sissel on these concerts, which also was broadcast on Norwegian and Swedish television. In 2005 it was released as a bonus-DVD on Sissel's 2005 album release, '' Nordisk Vinternatt''. Sissel Kyrkjebø
Sissel Kyrkjebø (; born 24 June 1969), also simply known as Sissel, is a Norwegian soprano. Sissel is considered one of the world's top crossover sopranos. Her musical style ranges from pop recordings and folk songs, to classical vocals and operatic arias. She sings mainly in English and Norwegian and has also sung songs in Spanish Swedish, Danish, Irish, Italian, French, Russian, Icelandic, Faroese, German, Neapolitan, Māori, Japanese and Latin. She rose to prominence in Norway in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and her cover version of Ole Paus' song "Innerst i sjelen" gained wide popularity in the 1990s. Koppången (song)
Koppången is a Swedish song, with music composed originally for violin in 1998 by for his folk music group Orsa Spelmän, which includes his brothers Kalle Moraeus and Olle Moraeus. The name and the inspiration for the song come from the wetlands and nature preserve , near the Moraeus family home in Orsa Municipality, Dalarna, Sweden. In 1998 Orsa Spelmän recorded the instrumental version of Koppången on the album which was released on the label Mono Music (MMCD 013). In 1999 Py Bäckman wrote lyrics for the song, in both Swedish and English and mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter recorded both versions on her album, 'Home for Christmas', which was released by Deutsche Grammophon. "Mitt hjerte alltid vanker" ("My Heart Always Wanders") is an old Scandinavian Christmas song, released as a single with Norwegian singer Sissel in 1995. It is one of several versions of the originally Danish hymn, which has since been translated and set to different melodies in the different Scandinavian countries. Kyrkjebø sings a Norwegian translation set to a Norwegian variant of a Swedish folk melody, which was first written down in 1816 in Västergötland in Sweden. This is the version is the most popular in Norway and Sweden. Carola Häggkvist recorded the song on her 1999 Christmas album '' Jul i Betlehem'' using the same version, as has various other Norwegian and Swedish artists. "Se ilden lyse" (in English: "Fire in Your Heart") is a single by Norwegian singer Sissel Kyrkjebø, released as the official song of the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway. It was a huge hit, peaking at number-one for three weeks on the Norwegian singles chart. In English, it is also sung as a duet with Spanish tenor Plácido Domingo.
