''In Mind'' is the fourth studio album by American indie rock band Real Estate, released on March 17, 2017, on Domino Records. It is the band's first album since founding member Matt Mondanile's departure, and the first with his replacement as lead guitarist, Julian Lynch. Background Before reconvening to work on songs that lead singer Martin Courtney had written for their fourth album, Real Estate decided to part ways with lead guitarist and founding member Matt Mondanile. According to bassist Alex Bleeker, "We decided to part ways because we found it difficult to work together." The impending split with Mondanile was not a surprise, according to Courtney: "It made a lot of sense to everyone involved. It was definitely not a shock. Real Estate is an American indie rock band from Ridgewood, New Jersey, United States, formed in 2008. The band is currently based in Brooklyn, New York, and consists of Martin Courtney (vocals, guitar), Alex Bleeker (bass, vocals), Matt Kallman (keyboards), Julian Lynch (guitar), and Sammi Niss (drums). Beacon is a city located in Dutchess County, New York, United States. The 2020 census placed the city total population at 13,769. ''Many Moons'' is the debut solo album by Martin Courtney, the frontman of the American indie rock band Real Estate, released on October 30, 2015 on Domino Records. Background and recording The material for ''Many Moons'' began as a stress-relief outlet for Courtney ahead of the recording of Real Estate's 2014 album ''Atlas''. Woods' Jarvis Taveniere had access to a studio ahead of the recording sessions for ''Atlas'' and asked Courtney to make a single. According to Courtney, the session snowballed into five songs they thought would become an EP. After they had even more songs completed, Courtney and Taveniere decided to release a full album once the recording and touring for ''Atlas'' were complete. Alexander William Bleeker (born July 28, 1986) is an American musician and guitarist. He is best known as the bassist of the American indie rock band Real Estate, with whom he has recorded four studio albums, and as the frontman and primary recording artist of the indie rock band Alex Bleeker and the Freaks. Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann joined the Freaks onstage at Outside Lands in 2015. Bleeker's most recent release is Alex Bleeker and the Freaks' third studio album, ''Country Agenda''. Early life and personal life Bleeker was born in New Jersey and raised in Ridgewood, New Jersey. Martin Courtney IV (born September 28, 1985) is an American musician and the frontman of the American indie rock band Real Estate. In 2015, Courtney also released his first solo album, ''Many Moons,'' followed by his second solo album, ''Magic Sign'', in 2022. Early life and personal life Courtney was born as Martin Courtney IV in Ridgewood, New Jersey, the son of Martin Courtney III and Mary Ellen Courtney. He attended Ridgewood High School with current Real Estate bandmate Alex Bleeker and former bandmate Matt Mondanile. He is best known as the former lead guitarist of the American indie rock band Real Estate (band), Real Estate, with whom he recorded three studio albums, and for his solo music project Ducktails (music), Ducktails. Early life Mondanile was born as Matthew Anthony Mondanile. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock".
