In Guezzam Province
The Wilaya of In Guezzam ( ar, ولاية عين قزّام) is a newly created province in far southern Algeria that was created on December 18, 2019, after the Cabinet of Algeria passed a bill that created 10 new provinces in a rare move. Prior to that there was no creation of provinces in Algeria for 35 years. In Guezzam is the southernmost and least populous province of Algeria, as it lies along the border with Niger, and has a population of 11,202 in the present boundaries during the 2008 census. The capital of the province is also called In Guezzam as all Algerian provinces are required to be named after their capitals. History The province was approved on May 27, 2015. The province was confirmed on November 26, 2019, and implemented the following month. Prior to 2019 it was part of Tamanrasset Province. Provinces Of Algeria
Algeria, since December 18, 2019, is divided into 58 wilaya, wilayas (province, provinces). Prior to December 18, 2019, there were 48 provinces. A daïra or daerah ( ''circle''; plural ''dawaïr'') is an administrative division in Algeria and Western Sahara in West Africa, as well as Brunei, Indonesia and Malaysia in Southeast Asia. Tin Zaouatine District
Tin Zaouatine ( ar, تين زاوتين) (also spelled Tinzouatine) is a commune, coextensive with the district of Tin Zaouatine, in In Guezzam Province, Algeria. According to the 2008 census it has a population of 4,157, up from 2,314 in 1998, with an annual growth rate of 6.2%, the highest rate in the province. Its postal code is 11150 and its municipal code is 1107. Geography Tin Zaouatine lies at an elevation of in the far north-western part of the Adrar des Ifoghas mountain range, which lies mostly in Mali. A series of long, rocky ridges run from north-south to the west of the town. Tamanrasset or Tamanghasset ( ar, ولاية تمنراست ''Wilāya Tamanrāssat'', Berber languages) is the largest province (''wilaya'') in Algeria. It was named after its province seat, Tamanrasset. The province has two national parks, more than any other in Algeria. They are Tassili n'Ajjer National Park and Ahaggar National Park.
