It is the owner of SIC TV channel, and ''Expresso'' newspaper, among other leading media, like several magazine publications. A third online business segment was launched under the name Impresa Digital. The company, which was founded by Francisco Pinto Balsemão, is listed on the Euronext Lisbon stock exchange. History The origins of Impresa goes back to 1972. In 1991 the company established a holding company, the Balsemão group. Next year it started the first private television channel, SIC, in Portugal. Since February 2018, the brand is present only on digital media and sporadic, special printed editions. Between November 1984 and April 2006, ''Blitz'' took the form of a weekly newspaper. Later, between June 2006 and January 2018, ''Blitz'' was issued as monthly magazine. It was one of the early music publications in Portugal. Francisco José Pereira Pinto Balsemão (; born 1 September 1937) is a Portuguese businessman, former journalist and retired politician, who served as Prime Minister of Portugal, from 1981 to 1983. Background He is the son of Henrique Patrício de Balsemão ( Guarda, Guarda, 9 September 1897 – ?) and wife (married Lisbon, 21 May 1922) Maria Adelaide van Zeller de Castro Pereira (Sintra, 11 August 1897 – 02 March 1984). SIC Notícias () is the cable news channel of the Portuguese television network SIC (''Sociedade Independente de Comunicação'') and the second thematic channel of the station. It is available on basic cable and satellite. It replaced CNL (''Canal de Notícias de Lisboa''), a Lisbon region independent cable news channel owned by TV Cabo, on January 8, 2001. Since the end of 2003, SIC Notícias has also been available in Angola and Mozambique via satellite or cable.
