Impact Play
Impact play is a human sexual practice in which one person is struck (usually repeatedly) by another person for the gratification of either or both parties which may or may not be sexual in nature. It is considered a form of BDSM. There are a number of activities that qualify as impact play. In erotic spanking the sub is struck on the buttocks either with the Dominant's open hand, or a rigid implement such as a paddle, cane or riding crop. In the latter case the activity is often referred to as ''paddling'', ''caning'' or ''cropping''. In erotic flagellation the sub is struck with a flexible implement such a whip or belt. Flagellation (Latin , 'whip'), flogging or whipping is the act of beating the human body with special implements such as whips, Birching, rods, Switch (rod), switches, the cat o' nine tails, the sjambok, the knout, etc. Typically, flogging has been imposed on an unwilling subject as a punishment; however, it can also be submitted to willingly and even done by oneself in sadomasochistic or religious contexts. David Savran
David Savran (born 1950) is a scholar of twentieth and twenty-first century theatre, music theatre, US theatre, popular culture, gender studies, and social theory. He is a Distinguished Professor of Theatre and holds the Vera Mowry Roberts Chair in American Theatre at The Graduate Center of the City University of New York. Career Savran graduated from Kent School in 1968. He holds a B.A. in English from Harvard University and an M.F.A. in Directing from Carnegie Mellon University. Savran earned his Ph.D. in Theatre Arts from Cornell University in 1978 where he studied under Marvin Carlson and Bert O. States. His dissertation was titled ''The Mask and the Face: Acting Theory of the Renaissance and the Enlightenment''. Life Shadwell was born at either Bromehill Farm, Weeting-with-Broomhill or Santon House, Lynford, Norfolk, and educated at Bury St Edmunds School, and at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, which he entered in 1656. Sir John Davies (16 April 1569 (baptised)8 December 1626) was an English poet, lawyer, and politician who sat in the House of Commons at various times between 1597 and 1621. He became Attorney General for Ireland and formulated many of the legal principles that underpinned the British Empire. Early life Davies was born in Wiltshire, possibly at Chicksgrove Manor at Lower Chicksgrove, to John and Mary Davies. He was educated at Winchester College for four years, a period in which he showed much interest in literature. He studied there until the age of sixteen and went to further his education at the Queen's College, Oxford, where he stayed for just eighteen months, with most historians questioning whether he received a degree. The Tomb of the Whipping ( it, Tomba della Fustigazione) is an Etruscan tomb in the Necropolis of Monterozzi near Tarquinia, Lazio, Italy. It is dated to approximately 490 BC and named after a fresco of two men who flog a woman in an erotic context. The tomb was discovered and excavated in 1960 by Carlo Maurilio Lerici.
