Immigration Advisory Program
The Immigration Advisory Program (IAP) is a pilot program developed by the Department of Homeland Security's Customs and Border Protection that places teams at European airports to prevent undesirable people from traveling to the United States. The program is based on the Immigration Security Initiative of the former Immigration and Naturalization Service. It was appropriated $2,000,000 in fiscal year 2005. The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is the U.S. federal executive department responsible for public security, roughly comparable to the interior or home ministries of other countries. Its stated missions involve anti-terrorism, border security, immigration and customs, cyber security, and disaster prevention and management. The United States Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) was an agency of the U.S. Department of Labor from 1933 to 1940 and the U.S. Department of Justice from 1940 to 2003. An airline is a company that provides air transport services for traveling passengers and freight. Airlines use aircraft to supply these services and may form partnerships or alliances with other airlines for codeshare agreements, in which they both offer and operate the same flight. Generally, airline companies are recognized with an air operating certificate or license issued by a governmental aviation body. Airlines may be scheduled or charter operators. The first airline was the German airship company DELAG, founded on November 16, 1909.
