Immaculata Regional High School
Immaculata Regional High School is a Roman Catholic high school situated in Kelowna, B.C., Canada. It was under the direction of the Kelowna Catholic Independent School Council. The school is co-educational, offering academic, fine arts, a heavy focus on science programs, as well as strong athletic, performing arts, and other extracurricular programs, for students from grades 8 to 12. The school participates in sporting events under the name of the "Mustangs", with the team colours of green and gold. History In 1860, Father Pandosy is credited with the Catholic education in Central Okanagan. In 1938, the Sisters of Charity of Halifax began formal instruction. Immaculata High School is a Roman Catholic high school in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, operated by the Ottawa Catholic School Board. It is currently located along the Rideau Canal in Old Ottawa East neighbourhood of Ottawa. Like other Catholic schools, it is publicly funded under the Ontario school system. History Immaculata High School was founded as an all-girls school in 1928 by Reverend J.J. O’Gorman, acting under the advice of higher ecclesiastical authority. He named the school "Immaculata", and opened it with an initial enrollment of 85 run by a staff of 3 Grey Sisters as an alternative to public school education for girls of moderate income located at 211 Bronson Avenue. The girls paid a monthly fee of one dollar- if their families could afford it. The site for the new school was the former Christie mansion property on Bronson Avenue at the corner of Lisgar Street, which was purchased for $25,000. W.E. Immaculata High School (Chicago)
Immaculata High School was an all-girls Catholic high school located in the Lakeview, Chicago, Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. It was open from 1921 to 1981. The building was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1977. The campus buildings received Chicago Landmark status on July 27, 1983. Still standing at Irving Park Road and Marine Drive, they were designed by Prairie School architect Barry Byrne, a onetime apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright. The sculpture of Mary above the entrance, now removed, was the work of frequent Byrne collaborator Alfonso Iannelli. Immaculata High School was a Catholic high school in Marrero, Louisiana. Immaculata High School opened in 1956 as a part of Immaculate Conception Parish. Immaculata answered a growing need for Catholic secondary education on the Westbank. Located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans, the School Sisters of Notre Dame served Immaculata from its inception until May 1979. In August 1979, the Salesian Sisters came to Immaculata. The founding pastor, Msgr. Paul Gaudin, envisioned a girls' school. At the time, however, the absence of a boys' Catholic High School in the area prompted parents to seek admission also for their sons. On September 10, 1956, Immaculata High School opened its doors to 50 freshmen. In 1960, 24 students comprised the first graduating class; the total enrollment was 188 in that year. Immaculata High School was an all-girls Catholic high school located at W. McNichols and Wyoming Ave. in Detroit, Michigan, United States. The school was opened in 1941 and was operated by the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The school closed in 1983. The building now houses The School at Marygrove Elementary. History In the early 20th century, the Sisters of IHM had a strong presence in Detroit, staffing a large number of elementary schools as well as Marygrove College. In the years leading up to World War II the Catholic population in Detroit swelled, and there was an increased demand for Catholic secondary education. The Sisters retained the firm of D.A.
