Ilyas Ibrahim
Ilyas Ibrahim (Dhivehi: އިލްޔާސް އިބްރާހިމް ) (born December 18, 1945) is the brother-in-law of the former President of the Maldives Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom. He was a minister in Maumoon's cabinet for a long time and served as an MP for the capital city Malé from 1980 to 1995. He also served as the MP for Laamu Atoll, & a member of People's Special Majilis, from 2003 to 2008. He was also the Minister of State for Defence, Minister of Home Affairs of Maldives and the head of State Trading Organization (STO) & Airports Company of the Maldives. The Maldives Airports Company was later dissolved due to bankruptcy and Maldivian was commissioned. Background His sister Nasreena Ibrahim has been the First Lady of the Maldives since 1978. His brother Abbas Ibrahim was the speaker of the People's Majlis. Maumoon Abdul Gayoom (; dv, މައުމޫން ޢަބްދުލް ޤައްޔޫމް; born 29 December 1937) is a Maldivian politician and an Islamic scholar who served as the President of Maldives from 1978 to 2008. Huvadhu Atoll
Huvadhu, Suvadive, Suvaidu or Suvadiva is the atoll with most islands in the world. The atoll is located in the Indian Ocean. It is south of the Suvadiva Channel in the Republic of Maldives with a total area of 3152 km2, of which 38.5 km2 is dry land. The atoll contains 255 islands. It is the second largest atoll in the country, after Boduthiladhunmathi (consisting of Haa Alif, Haa Dhaalu, Shaviyani, and Noonu administrative divisions) which has smaller and fewer islands spread across a larger area. Huvadu Atoll has been divided into two districts (administrative provinces) for administrative purposes since the 1970s. The People's Majlis ( dv, ރައްޔިތުންގެ މަޖިލިސް; ''Rayyithunge Majilis'') is the unicameral legislative body of Maldives. The Majlis has the authority to enact, amend and revise laws, as outlined in the Constitution of the Maldives. The Majlis is composed of 87 members as of 2019. Each year on the last Thursday of February, the Majlis is opened by the President of the Maldives. Abbas Ibrahim (born August 13, 1940) is a Maldivian politician. He is the brother-in-law of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. Ibrahim is a former speaker of the Special Constitutional Majlis (parliament) of the Maldives from its convocation in 2004 to 2006. He has served as an MP since 1981 (from 1985 to 1995 he was one of the president's appointed MPs for the Majlis), and was the MP for Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll. Background He is from Endherimaage in Malé.
