Ilya Mokretsov
Ilya Vladimirovich Mokretsov (sometimes spelled Mokretcov, russian: Илья Владимирович Мокрецов; born 17 April 1984, in Kazan) is a male sabre fencer who first represented Russia then Kazakhstan. Career Mokretsov took up fencing at age twelve after coach Lev Belusov scouted him at the ice rink. In 2000 he joined the Russian junior national team, which became team world champions in 2002. At the Junior World Championships he earned an individual silver medal in 2004. The next year, at the 2005 Summer Universiade in İzmir, he joined as a reserve a Russian team made up of experienced fencers Aleksey Frosin, Aleksey Yakimenko and Aleksey Dyachenko, who won the team gold medal. His senior career proved less successful. Aleksey Dyachenko
Aleksey Vladimirovich Dyachenko (a.k.a. Aleksei Diachenko; russian: Алексе́й Влади́мирович Дьяче́нко; born 11 November 1978) is a Russian former sabre fencer and a commercial pilot in the United States. Personal life He is the son of fencing coaches Vladimir and Natalya Dyachenko. His sister Yekaterina was a world champion sabre fencer. Sport career Dyachenko took part in the team sabre event for the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney as a reserve of the Russia team, which won a gold medal. He qualified as a full member of the team to the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. In the individual event, he lost in the first round to Ukraine's Volodymyr Kaliuzhniy. In the team event, Russia overcame Greece, but fell to Italy in the semifinals. They defeated the United States by a single hit to win the bronze medal. This article details the qualifying phase for fencing at the 2016 Summer Olympics The fencing competitions at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro took place from 6 to 14 August at the Carioca Arena 3 inside the Barra Olympic Park in Barra da Tijuca. Around 212 fencers (an equal distribution between men and women; of wh .... Qualification was primarily based on the FIE Official Ranking as of April 4, 2016, with further individual places available at 4 zonal qualifying tournaments. For the team events, 8 teams qualified in each event. Each team must be composed of 3 fencers. The top 4 ranked teams qualified.
