Illyria (musical)
''Illyria'' is a musical with book, music, and lyrics by Peter Mills, based on William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, written in 2002. Illyria is a traditional adaptation of Twelfth Night, but features a more contemporary score. Illyria began as Prospect Theater Company's musical production of Twelfth Night in Central Park in 2001. The company's artistic director Cara Reichel and resident writer Pete Mills then collaborated to create a complete musical adaptation. The musical premiered from April 12 through the 28th at the Hudson Guild Theater, New York City. Plot Act I Feste, a jester, welcomes the audience and introduces them to the world of Illyria and each character featured in the show (“Illyria”). In the midst of his introductions, an intense thunderstorm shipwrecks the twins Viola and Sebastian off of Illyria's coast. Peter Mills (composer)
''Peter Mills'' is an American musical theatre composer and lyricist. He won the third Fred Ebb award in 2007. Olivia (Twelfth Night)
Olivia is a fictional character from William Shakespeare's play ''Twelfth Night'', believed to have been written around 1600 or 1601. She is at the centre of the various plots, both the comedic and the romantic. She has various suitors. Background Olivia is a beautiful lady of noble birth who lives in Illyria. Before the play begins, she lost her brother, her guardian, after her father died. Joel Blum is an American stage actor. Early life Blum was born in San Francisco, California. Sir Andrew Aguecheek is a fictional character in William Shakespeare's play ''Twelfth Night, or What You Will''. Sir Toby Belch is a character in William Shakespeare’s ''Twelfth Night''. He is Olivia's uncle. Character Sir Toby is an ambiguous mix of high spirits and low cunning. He first appears in the play's third scene, when he storms onto the stage the morning after a hard night out, complaining about the sombre melancholy that hangs over his niece's household. Feste is a fictional character in William Shakespeare's comedy ''Twelfth Night''. He is a Shakespearian fool, fool (royal jester) attached to the household of the Olivia (Twelfth Night), Countess Olivia.
