Illinois Route 175 was a state highway in Peoria County, Illinois during the 1930s. Route description The route was a short spur from U.S. Route 24 and Illinois Route 9 to the village of Glasford. History Route 175 was established in 1924 as part of the later series of State Bond Issue (SBI) Routes. It was decommissioned in the early 1930s, and by 1935 the road became unnumbered. To this day, County Road R33 still sits at this particular roadway. Glasford is a village in Peoria County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,022 at the 2010 census. Glasford is part of the Peoria, Illinois Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Glasford or Glasco as it was called in 1868, was named for its founder, Samual Alexander Glasford/Glassford (1824-1896). Samuel A. Glasford whom arrived in Peoria County in 1842 from Ohio and was one of the early settlers of Timber Twp., had the foresight to off lots where cornfields once stood. When the railroad was built by his farm residence, Mr. Glasford had the hindsight to realize Lancaster, IL would seek the railroad and laid out the town December 9, 1868 which became incorporated as a village in 1889.Glasford Gazette. Illinois Route 9 (IL 9) is a cross-state, east–west rural state highway in the central part of the U.S. state of Illinois. It travels from Niota at the Fort Madison Toll Bridge, that crosses the Mississippi River into Iowa, eastward across central Illinois to State Road 26 (SR 26) at the Indiana state line. Route description IL 9 is a major arterial route in rural central Illinois. It is a parallel highway to IL 116 to the north and U.S. Route 136 (US 136) to its south. It is a two-lane highway for most of its length. Illinois Route 9 runs eastward from the Mississippi River at the Fort Madison Toll Bridge to the Indiana state line near Cheneyville at SR 26 and SR 352. It crosses the Illinois River on the John T.
