Ilija Belošević ( sr-cyr, Илија Белошевић; born 13 April 1972) is a Serbian basketball referee. Refereeing career Belošević has been a referee since 1987 and an international referee since 1997. At the end of the 2020–21 EuroLeague season, he was the EuroLeague's all-time leader in games refereed (387). The Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, commonly referred to as SFR Yugoslavia or simply as Yugoslavia, was a country in Central and Southeast Europe. In basketball, an official (usually called a referee) enforces the rules and maintains order in the game. The title of official also applies to the scorers and timekeepers, as well as other personnel that have an active task in maintaining the game. Basketball is regarded as among the most difficult sports to officiate due to the speed of play, complexity of rules, the case-specific interpretations of rules, and the instantaneous decision required. There is one lead referee and one or two umpires, depending on whether there is a two- or three-person crew. In the NBA, the lead official is called the crew chief with one referee and one umpire. 2020–21 EuroLeague
The 2020–21 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague was the 21st season of the modern era of the EuroLeague and the 11th under the title Sponsor (commercial), sponsorship of Turkish Airlines. Including the competition's previous incarnation as the FIBA Europe Champions Cup, this was the 64th season of the premier basketball competition for European men's clubs. The season started 1 October 2020. As the season was the first to be played after the 2019–20 EuroLeague, previous season was abandoned due to travel restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the EuroLeague board ruled that the 18 teams from the previous season would stay in the league. Obrad Belošević ( sr-cyr, Обрад Белошевић; 28 April 1928 – 20 January 1986) was a Serbian basketball Official (basketball), referee. Refereeing career Belošević refereed over 300 games of the Yugoslav Basketball League, Yugoslav League from 1951 to 1976. Other notable events he refereed in include the Basketball at the 1968 Summer Olympics, 1968 Summer Olympics, 1970 FIBA World Championship, 1974 FIBA World Championship, two Euroleague, European Champions Cup final games (1968–69 FIBA European Champions Cup, 1969 and 1969–70 FIBA European Champions Cup, 1970) and a FIBA Korać Cup final. FIBA Hall Of Fame
The FIBA Hall of Fame, or FIBA Basketball Hall of Fame, honors players, coaches, teams, referees, and administrators who have greatly contributed to international competitive basketball. It was established by FIBA, in 1991. It includes the " Samaranch Library", the largest basketball library in the world, that as of 2007, had over 10,000 basketball books, and 950 magazines, from over 65 countries. The FIBA Hall of Fame building is a basketball museum built in Alcobendas, Community of Madrid, Spain, by the Pedro Ferrándiz Foundation.
