	Baron Iliffe Baron Iliffe, of Yattendon in the County of Berkshire, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1933 for the newspaper magnate Sir Edward Iliffe. For many years the family controlled newspapers in Birmingham and Coventry, including the ''Birmingham Post'', the ''Birmingham Mail'' and the ''Coventry Evening Telegraph'', and were also part owners of ''The Daily Telegraph''. 	Edward Iliffe, 1st Baron Iliffe Edward Mauger Iliffe, 1st Baron Iliffe, (17 May 1877 – 25 July 1960) was a British newspaper magnate, public servant and Conservative Member of Parliament. Biography Iliffe was the son of William Isaac Iliffe (1843–1917), a printer and Justice of the Peace, of Allesley near Coventry. His father, associated with Henry Sturmey, founded early publications on the motor industry and cycling. His father also founded the ''Coventry Evening Telegraph'', which Edward began working on at age 17. After his father died in 1917, he and his brother expanded the business and Edward ultimately became president and the principal proprietor of the ''Birmingham Post'' and the ''Birmingham Mail'' and owner of the ''Coventry Evening Telegraph'' and the '' Cambridge Daily News''. 	Jim Iliffe Jim Iliffe (23 April 192225 June 2005) was an Australian radio and television personality. Early life James "Jim" Iliffe was born at Croydon, New South Wales on 23 April 1922. Service in World War II Although only 17 years of age at the outbreak of World War II, he claimed he was 18 and joined the 33rd Fortress Company, Royal Australian Engineers. He transferred to the AIF as a Corporal, later becoming a Sergeant. He was sent to Singapore in May 1941 and was at Kluang on the Malay Peninsula when Japan entered the war. The Australian troops, aided by British and Indian, were to hold the line against the Japanese advance. The Japanese strategy was to land south of the allied positions, causing a continual retreat for the allies. Iliffe was wounded in the leg by shrapnel shortly before the unit made it back to Singapore. 	Langton Iliffe, 2nd Baron Iliffe Edward Langton Iliffe, 2nd Baron Iliffe (25 January 1908 – 15 February 1996), generally known as Langton Iliffe, was a British peer. He was the son of The 1st Baron Iliffe and his wife, Charlotte, daughter of Henry Gilding. Iliffe married Renée Merandon du Plessis, a Mauritian of French descent, on 8 December 1938. His best man at the wedding was the architect, Winton Aldridge. Iliffe succeeded his father, as The 2nd Baron Iliffe, in 1960. 	Marc Iliffe Marc Iliffe (27 June 1972 – 11 February 2003) was a British strongman famous for being the winner of Britain's Strongest Man contest in 2002. Career Iliffe was acknowledged as being extremely dedicated to the sport of strength athletics. His training partner of ten years, Bill Pittuck, talked of Marc's particular love of the Atlas stones event which helped him win the title of Britain's Strongest Man in 2002.
