Ilie Ilașcu
Ilie Ilașcu (born 30 July 1952) is a Moldovan-born Romanian politician, especially known for being sentenced to death by the separatist Transnistrian government for alleged involvement in two murders and for actions which have been described as Moldovan state-sponsored terrorism by Transnistrian government officials. Political activity Born in Taxobeni, Fălești district, Ilașcu graduated from the Faculty of Economic Studies of the Agricultural Institute in Chișinău. He is married to Nina and they have two daughters, Tatiana (b. 28 February 1980) and Olga (b. 1 July 1984). Ilie Ilașcu worked as chief economist at "Dnestr" Research Institute in Tiraspol. Ilașcu became known for his opposition to Moldovan Communist Party politics regarding the Moldovan language, for openly advocating the usage of Latin script and for recognition of a Moldovan-Romanian identity, as well as for giving Moldovan the status of an official language. Parliament Of The Republic Of Moldova
The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova is the supreme representative body of the Republic of Moldova, the only state legislative authority, being a unicameral structure composed of 101 elected MPs on lists, for a period of 4 years. Parliament is elected by universal vote, equal directly, secret and freely expressed. The President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova is elected by the Parliament, with a minimum of 52 votes. The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova, on a proposal of the Central Electoral Commission, decides to validate or invalidate the mandate of the Member of Parliament. Separatism
Separatism is the advocacy of cultural, ethnic, tribal, religious, racial, governmental or gender separation from the larger group. Andrei Ivanțoc
Andrei Ivanțoc (born 9 March 1961) is a Moldovan politician. He was among the four leaders (the Ilie Ilașcu group, comprising also Alexandru Leșco and Tudor Petrov Popa) of the Tiraspol branch of the pro-Romanian Christian-Democratic People's Party (Moldova), Christian-Democratic People's Party of Moldova who were accused of terrorism by the authorities of the breakaway Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR). Biography Ivanțoc was born in Opaci, Căușeni district, Moldova. He and his three fellow-leaders were pro-Romanian Movement for unification of Romania and the Republic of Moldova, unionists, fighting the PMR authorities who controlled most of Transnistria. Ivanțoc was arrested on 2 June 1992, and sentenced to 15 years of prison in a trial, which the European Court of Human Rights considered to be unfairly conducted by the PMR authorities. Liberal Party ( ro, Partidul Liberal, PL) is a conservative-liberal political party in Moldova. The president of the party is the former Mayor of Chișinău, Dorin Chirtoacă. Mihai Ghimpu (born 19 November 1951) is a Moldovan politician who served as Speaker of Parliament and Acting President of Moldova from 2009 to 2010. He was member of Parliament of Moldova from 1990 to 1998 and from 2009 to 2019. Ghimpu held the position of leader of Liberal Party (PL) from 1998 to 2018. Family Mihai Ghimpu was born on 19 November 1951 in the village of Colonița, Chișinău, Moldavian SSR. His mother, Irina Ursu (daughter of Haralambie Ursu) died in 2003; she worked at the local kolkhoz. The Popular Front of Moldova ( ro, Frontul Popular din Moldova) was a political movement in the Moldavian SSR, one of the 15 union republics of the former Soviet Union, and in the newly independent Republic of Moldova.
