Ilie Gârleanu
Ilie Gârleanu (20 July 1930 – August 2018) was a Romanian footballer who played as a striker. Club career Ilie Gârleanu was born on 20 July 1930 in Rezina, but in 1940 together with his family he ran away in Craiova, as Bessarabia became occupied by Russians in World War II. He started playing football at junior level at Sportul Muncitoresc Craiova. Afterwards he went to play for a few clubs before settling at Știința Timișoara, where during a spell of nine seasons he won the 1957–58 Cupa României. He has a total of 156 Divizia A matches in which he scored 35 goals. In 2008 Gârleanu received the Honorary Citizen of Timișoara title. International career Ilie Gârleanu played one friendly match for Romania, on 19 September 1954 under coach Ștefan Dobay in a 5–1 loss against Hungary. Rezina
Rezina is a city in Moldova and the capital of Rezina District. Three villages are administered by the city: Boşerniţa, Ciorna and Stohnaia. Geography In the northeastern part of Moldova, as far as 98 km from Chișinău, the town of Rezina is situated on three successive terraces formed by the picturesque right bank of the Dniester. The lowest terrace (along the Dniester) houses the older town, the second one (on the hill slope) contains buildings constructed in the 1950-60s, while the upper terrace is the seat of the new town constructed in the 1970-90s. 1957–58 Cupa României
The 1957–58 Cupa României was the 20th edition of Romania's most prestigious football cup competition. The title was won by Ştiinţa Timişoara against Progresul București. Format The competition is an annual knockout tournament. In the first round proper, two pots were made, first pot with Divizia A teams and other teams till 16 and the second pot with the rest of teams qualified in this phase. Each tie is played as a single leg. It is the first season in the history of Cupa României when all the games are played on a neutral location. If a match is drawn after 90 minutes, the game goes in extra time, and if the scored is still tight after 120 minutes, then a replay will be played. The 1953 Divizia B was the 14th season of the second tier of the Romanian football league system. The format with two series has been maintained, but each of them being expanded from 12 to 16. At the end of the season the winners of the series and one second place promoted to Divizia A and only the teams which had organizational problems relegated to District Championship, because the series would be expanded from the next season. The Liga 2, most often spelled as Liga II, is the second level of the Romanian football league system. The league changed its name from Divizia B just before the start of the 2006–07 Liga II, 2006–07. It is currently Sponsor (commercial), sponsored by Casa Pariurilor, a betting company with the official name Liga 2 Casa Pariurilor. Format Divisions Since its inception in 1934, Liga II had between 2 and 9 parallel divisions, with clubs divided based on geographic regions.
