Il Volpone
''Il volpone'' is a 1988 Italian comedy film directed in by Maurizio Ponzi, inspired by Ben Jonson's comedy with the same name. The film stars Enrico Montesano, Enrico Maria Salerno and Paolo Villaggio. Plot Set in the Ligurian Riviera during the 1980s, it features Paolo Villaggio as Ugo Maria Volpone, a rich but apparently ill ship company owner. He is surrounded by a series of relatives and friends (played by Enrico Maria Salerno, Renzo Montagnani, Alessandro Haber) who blandish him in order to inherit his estate. The shrewd Volpone, in return, organizes a hoax against them to betray their greed. In the movie, he is joined by a new waiter, Bartolomeo Mosca (Enrico Montesano), who quickly shows himself to be as cunning as Volpone in arranging humiliations. Maurizio Ponzi
Maurizio Ponzi (born 8 May 1939) is an Italian film director, screenwriter and cinema critic. Born in Rome, he wrote cinema reviews in several Italian magazines during the early 1960s. He worked as assistant director in Pier Paolo Pasolini's episode in ''Amore e rabbia'' and directed a series of documentaries in 1967–1968. He has directed 22 films between 1968 (his debut film '' I visionari'' won a prize in the Locarno Festival) and 2004. His film ''The Pool Hustlers'' (''Io, Chiara e lo Scuro'', one of three featuring Francesco Nuti that Ponzi directed in the early 1980s) was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1983 Cannes Film Festival. Alessandro Haber (born 19 January 1947) is an italian people, Italian actor, film director and singer. Haber was born in Bologna in a Italian Jews, Jewish family of mixed ancestry (his father was a Romanian Jew and his mother Italian) and spent his childhood in Israel. His movie debut was in 1967 with ''La Cina è vicina'' by Marco Bellocchio. His first leading role was in Pupi Avati's ''Regalo di Natale''. Haber directed his only movie in 2003 with ''Scacco pazzo''. Renzo Montagnani (September 11, 1930 – May 22, 1997) was an Italian actor and voice actor. Biography Montagnani was born in Alessandria, Piedmont, and debuted as theatre actor thanks to the help of Erminio Macario.
