picture info	Mauro Bolognini Mauro Bolognini (28 June 1922 – 14 May 2001) was an Italian film and stage director of literate sensibility, known for his masterly handling of period subject matter. Early years Bolognini was born in Pistoia, in the Tuscany region of Italy. After earning a master's degree in architecture at the University of Florence, Bolognini enrolled at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia (Italian National Film Academy) in Rome, where he studied stage design. After graduation, he became interested in film direction and set out to work as an assistant to directors Luigi Zampa in Italy, and Yves Allégret and Jean Delannoy in France. 	Jole Fierro Jole Fierro (22 November 1926 – 27 March 1988) was an Italian actress. Born in Salerno, Fierro made her debut in the early 1950s in the Neapolitan dialect theater, and shortly later she made her first appearances in films. In June 1954, she acted in the surreal comedy play written and directed by Dario Fo ''I sani da legare'', then, in the autumn of the same year, she entered the prestigious stage company of Eduardo De Filippo, with whom she achieved some large success.
