Il Conte Di Matera
''Il Conte di Matera'' ("The Count of Matera") is a 1958 Italian adventure film directed by Luigi Capuano and starring Virna Lisi and Otello Toso. Plot Rambaldo Tramontana, a count who went into battle backed by the French, returns to Matera to take revenge once he is victorious, but the city is deserted and he begins to commit abuses and violence. Filiberto, his perfidious squire, thinks he can marry his daughter, Greta. She discovers that Paolo, the son of Duke Bresci, is not dead as wrongly communicated; she falls in love with him while the young man vows to avenge his father, forced into exile by Count Tramontana, and will try to free his daughter, Gisella, engaged to Count Mario Del Balzo. Paolo, aided by many reinforcements, manages to conquer Matera while both Rambaldo and Filiberto will be killed after a bloody sword fight. Amedeo Trilli (9 July 1906 – 30 November 1971) was an Italian film and television actor. Life and career Born in Ronciglione, Viterbo, at very young age Trilli worked as a circus artist, then in 1922 he studied performance at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia and later he started working on stage. He made his film debut in the early days of the sound films, and from the 1940s his presence on the big screen became continuous. One of the most active character actors in Italian genre cinema, Trilli also got some leading roles in a number of low budget films, sometimes credited as Amedeo Novelli. Nazzareno Zamperla (25 April 1937 – 19 March 2020) was an Italian actor and stuntman. Career Born in Treviso into a circus family, Zamperla came to Rome in 1949 and worked primarily in the 1950s and 1960s as a stunt performer. His focus was on the sword and sandal films. In the 1960s and 1970s, he transitioned into appearances as an actor in front of the camera, and his focus shifted to Spaghetti Western productions, where he was also known under the name of Nick Anderson, while also continuing working behind the camera as a gun master. Edoardo Toniolo (22 November 1907 - 31 December 1986) was an Italian actor and voice actor. Life and career Born in Turin, the son of the stage actors Antonio and Rosa Rosaz, at young age Toniolo debuted on stage in supporting roles.
