Igor Toporovski
Igor Toporovski (russian: Игорь Топоровский) is a Belgian art collector. In 2018, more than 20 pieces of Russian avant-garde from his collection made a nucleus of an exhibition at the Ghent Museum of Fine Arts. After an investigation, the pieces were suspected to be forgeries and were taken down for investigation, and Catherine de Zegher, the museum director, was suspended. The Russian avant-garde was a large, influential wave of avant-garde modern art that flourished in the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union, approximately from 1890 to 1930—although some have placed its beginning as early as 1850 and its end as late as 1960. The term covers many separate, but inextricably related, art movements that flourished at the time; including Suprematism, Constructivism, Russian Futurism, Cubo-Futurism, Zaum and Neo-primitivism. Museum Of Fine Arts, Ghent
The Museum of Fine Arts ( nl, Museum voor Schone Kunsten, MSK) an art museum in Ghent, Belgium, is situated at the East side of the Citadelpark (near the Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst). The museum's collection consists of some 9000 artworks, dating from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. Over 600 works can be found on display permanently, with the collection largely focusing on Flemish Art (Southern Netherlands). It also houses several European- especially French- paintings, in addition to a large amount of sculptures. Next to its permanent collection the museum organises temporary exhibitions. Catherine De Zegher
Catherine de Zegher (born Marie-Catherine Alma Gladys de Zegher Groningen, April 14, 1955) is a Belgian curator and a modern and contemporary art historian. She has a degree in art history and archaeology from the University of Ghent.
