It was built originally in 1729 and underwent major repairs in 1864 directed by engineer Ramon Soler. with It was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1984. Manatí barrio-pueblo is a barrio and the administrative center (seat) of Manatí, a municipality of Puerto Rico. Its population in 2010 was 5,746. Manatí () is a city and municipality of Puerto Rico on the northern coast, north of Morovis and Ciales; east of Florida and Barceloneta; and west of Vega Baja. Manatí is spread over 8 barrios and Manatí barrio-pueblo (the downtown area and the administrative center of the city). It is part of the San Juan-Caguas-Guaynabo Metropolitan Statistical Area.
